Harrod House in Carlton, located on Church Street, serves as the purpose-designed home of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service in the area. Originally established as G. Harrod and Sons, the business became part of the A.W. Lymn group in October 1994 following the acquisition of four funeral homes from Jason Beeson. As part of that transition, the company was proud to welcome Gerald Harrod, a member of the founding family, into the team.
In January 2018, the funeral home moved from its original location on Church Street to its current, larger premises. The building was renamed Harrod House in memory of Gerald, who passed away in 2013. Reflecting Gerald’s impact on the company.
The funeral home is led by Senior Funeral Director Mark Ridout, who brings decades of experience and compassionate care. He is supported by Funeral Director Paul Richardson and Funeral Arranger Emma Hemstock.
This branch serves the communities of Carlton, Bakersfield, Bulcote, Burton Joyce, Caythorpe, Colwick, Gedling, Lowdham, Mapperley, Netherfield, Sneinton, St Ann’s, and surrounding areas.
As part of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, a fifth-generation family-run business established in 1907, Harrod House continues the proud tradition of respectful, bespoke funeral care under the guidance of directors Nigel, Matthew, and Jackie Lymn Rose.

I would like to thank Paul for his kind gentlemanly compassionate time with me sorting out my brothers funeral arrangements. We as a family live quite a distance from Nottingham but this was dealt with through great communication and relying on Lymns to fill in gaps with others we could not have done.
On the day the “team” were so professional and my cousins were particularly impressed with Adam the driver who was lovely, in there words- thank you.
Paul, I know you know our family and dealt with Kate but remembering the details is something else.
On the day I looked for your help,guidance and support, I found them all.
You are a gentleman and I will not forget that.

I felt that my own experiences on the way to the crematorium would have resonated with Paul when I saw a buzzard soaring over Gunthorpe and a red kite over Lowdham which made the occasion even more special I thought. The care, dignity and compassion shown to our family by the team at Harrod House, Carlton, was truly exceptional from start to finish.
Emma was our main point of contact and guided us through every step with kindness, patience and complete professionalism at a very difficult time. When Emma was unavailable, Mark stepped in seamlessly and provided the same level of reassurance and support.
On the day of the funeral, Mark took the lead and was absolutely fantastic, providing calm reassurance and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Grant drove the hearse with such quiet dignity and respect, which meant a great deal to us.
Nothing was too much trouble, and their attention to detail ensured everything was carried out exactly as we wished.
They treated my brother, Earl, with such respect and gave him the most beautiful and dignified farewell. We will always be grateful for the care and support they gave us.
I would highly recommend their services to anyone needing understanding, guidance and genuine compassion at such a difficult time.
