On behalf of my family & myself we would like to say a huge thankyou to all staff at Lymns of Carlton especially Mark Collishaw who looked after us even befor my husband Roy passed away on 2nd July 2018 also Brendan Flanagan who took our service for us it couldn't have been a better day to celebrate the life of my beloved Roy, to end the afternoon my grandson & myself released a Dove which was so magical for me.

Mark Collishaw at A.W. Lymn Carlton was excellent from start to finish in helping me to arrange my sister's funeral. He is so professional and came up with some good ideas when I was struggling to decide what to do with certain things. Mark is very personable and nothing is too much trouble for him. He even hand stuck 450+ diamantes to my sister's coffin and helped me come up with a bespoke design. I went to see a couple of funeral homes before deciding and none came close to A.W. Lymn. Mark, the Funeral Director on the day was also very good and they even arranged for someone to look after my sister's dogs because I wanted them to walk her in to the Crematorium. Mark Collishaw even took time after work to attend my sister's celebration of life at Colwick Hall because we wanted him to attend part of the day, as he had put so much effort in.
There were a couple of things on the day of the funeral that were slightly disappointing (seats not reserved as requested which meant older family members were standing at the back as so many people came and the car used for family had minor dust layer on dashboard and window ledges). I also didn't have a very positive or warm experience with City Flowers which is a shame as they are part of A.W. Lymn and in the end I opted for a separate florist. However, overall I would not hesitate to recommend A.W.Lymn at Carlton and cannot thank Mark Collishaw enough for his support during a very sad and difficult time.
Harrod House in Carlton, located on Church Street, serves as the purpose-designed home of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service in the area. Originally established as G. Harrod and Sons, the business became part of the A.W. Lymn group in October 1994 following the acquisition of four funeral homes from Jason Beeson. As part of that transition, the company was proud to welcome Gerald Harrod, a member of the founding family, into the team.
In January 2018, the funeral home moved from its original location on Church Street to its current, larger premises. The building was renamed Harrod House in memory of Gerald, who passed away in 2013. Reflecting Gerald’s impact on the company.
The funeral home is led by Senior Funeral Director Mark Ridout, who brings decades of experience and compassionate care. He is supported by Funeral Director Paul Richardson and Funeral Arranger Emma Hemstock.
This branch serves the communities of Carlton, Bakersfield, Bulcote, Burton Joyce, Caythorpe, Colwick, Gedling, Lowdham, Mapperley, Netherfield, Sneinton, St Ann’s, and surrounding areas.
As part of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, a fifth-generation family-run business established in 1907, Harrod House continues the proud tradition of respectful, bespoke funeral care under the guidance of directors Nigel, Matthew, and Jackie Lymn Rose.

He has asked me to pass on that it was a privilege to help you arrange Wendy's funeral, to see a sad occasion become a celebration of life and in a small way to get to know Wendy's personality. We are however sorry that there were slight issues with regards to seating in the chapel and dust in the cars and both of these matters have been discussed with the relevant staff so we can learn from them. We are also sorry that you felt that you did not receive warm or positive service from the staff in City Flowers and we would welcome any additional feedback or information in relation to this so we can look into it further for you. Mark Collishaw was excellent in meeting our needs sympathetically, he was supportive when required & gently advised us when we asked for his help, funeral was excellent, my Dad would have been proud, everything perfect & smoothly operated from our perspective as customers though I'm sure behind the scenes was a different story to ensure my Dad had a beautiful service
Every problem Mark was there to sort out & available whenever we called, nothing seemed too much, the staff scheduled to support Dads funeral day were superb, courteous, respectful & patient, thank you for helping make our last goodbye as special as we wanted it to be

The attitude of the staff was exemplary. The service they provided was efficient, well organised and personal unlike other funeral directors in the area and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others in need of excellent funeral care.

Lots of things to do - usually one or two at a time. Problem with payment information - had to ask twice. Lost the early payment amount (not my fault)
Also really expensive final bill!!!! Amount kept going up and up.
Not what you need at this difficult time.

We are sorry that you thought that the final bill was expensive, but the account raised was as per the original estimate we provided with the only extras being for additional services that you requested after the estimate was supplied. As with many processes there are various stages of a funeral arrangement which must be completed by the family rather than the funeral director and although we strive to take away as many of these stresses as possible for the families we serve it is not possible for us to deal with everything, but we apologise if this placed additional pressure on you at this difficult time. AW Lymns were always there to provide support with documents that were required and handled everything with up most sensitivity.
The speaker they recommend (Victoria) was a lovely down to earth lady who gave my father a great send off.
We would use both of them again.
It would be nice to have access to a 6 seater car though because my family would have preferred to be transported together.

We are sorry that you were a little disappointed that you could not all sit together to travel to the funeral. Our vintage fleet can still accommodate six passengers but unfortunately our modern Rolls-Royces cannot.

flowers from funeral not taken out a.s.a.p so mourners not able to view them.
donation box a little hard to spot and I wonder how many contributions were missed.

We are sorry that it appeared to you that the flowers were not displayed as soon as possible. We are not permitted to retrieve the flowers from behind the curtains in the Crematorium Chapel until such time as all the mourners have left and the exit doors are closed. On the occasion of your husbandâs funeral there was a large congregation which marked how highly regarded he was. Unfortunately with so many mourners it took a considerable time for everyone to leave the chapel and hence it was rather longer than usual before the flowers could be retrieved and put on display. As regards the donations box this was placed in the possition designated by the crematorium. The large number of mourners may have made this less visible but we hope that no contributions were missed as the printed âOrder of Service cardsâ stated that donations could be left in âthe box provided. We are really sorry that you had these matters of concern but we do hope that this addresses them, however please contact us again should you feel that is necessary. Thank you.

The funeral was organised professionally and sensitively by the staff.
All the staff we met during the preliminary organisation and during the journey and service were caring and aware of peoples' needs and emotions.

Excellent. Prompt, efficient and respectful. Mark was excellent. We never felt rushed and the personal delivery of Ronnie’s remembrance book the morning after the funeral was so much appreciated.
Thank you Mark. We had a negative experience with another company for my fathers funeral, so we are relieved and pleased that Mums funeral couldn’t have gone any better.

Could not fault any aspect of the service they provided. They helped us so much especially as it was less than 5 months that we used them for the first time following our mothers death. They remembered our family so we felt that they cared and is was not just "another funeral".
