Harrod House in Carlton, located on Church Street, serves as the purpose-designed home of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service in the area. Originally established as G. Harrod and Sons, the business became part of the A.W. Lymn group in October 1994 following the acquisition of four funeral homes from Jason Beeson. As part of that transition, the company was proud to welcome Gerald Harrod, a member of the founding family, into the team.
In January 2018, the funeral home moved from its original location on Church Street to its current, larger premises. The building was renamed Harrod House in memory of Gerald, who passed away in 2013. Reflecting Gerald’s impact on the company.
The funeral home is led by Senior Funeral Director Mark Ridout, who brings decades of experience and compassionate care. He is supported by Funeral Director Paul Richardson and Funeral Arranger Emma Hemstock.
This branch serves the communities of Carlton, Bakersfield, Bulcote, Burton Joyce, Caythorpe, Colwick, Gedling, Lowdham, Mapperley, Netherfield, Sneinton, St Ann’s, and surrounding areas.
As part of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, a fifth-generation family-run business established in 1907, Harrod House continues the proud tradition of respectful, bespoke funeral care under the guidance of directors Nigel, Matthew, and Jackie Lymn Rose.

Lymns were excellent. At a time when our family were grieving and finding things hard they were there for us and supported us. To add to the stress we were all on lock down because of Covid 19, Lymns coped with daily changes to guidance and kept us informed. They were professional but also sensative and appreciative to our needs. My Dad had the send off he wanted, driving past his flat for the last time with dignity and respect. We can't thank Lymns enough.

We received the best possible service. Everyone was always so kind and helpful and all the arrangements both before and at the funeral service went without a hitch. Lymn's are a thoroughly professional company with a lovely human touch - just what's wanted at such times. We couldn't speak highly enough of their wonderful staff.

My brother Jim & I , & my partner Bruce, would like to thank Diane & Mark & all the other staff ( drivers, make up, office staff... & anyone we haven’t mentioned!) that supported us to organise a beautiful funeral for our mum Brenda Dorothy Turner.
In the lead up & preparation Diane was super! Lots of tea, understanding, reassurance & sensitivity. Also super efficient!!!
Tha actual funeral was superb.
Mark , mum’s last journey was great, going through much loved territory.
