As you may imagine having someone dear to you die is probably one of the most stressful things that can happen. Fortunately, we had already chosen Susan Whymark Funeral Directors before my wife died. We had been to see them, and had been guided through the process of deciding pretty well everything concerning how we wished to be treated on our demise.
When my wife died suddenly, Susan Whymark staff swept into action, guiding me through the final choices which needed to be made. William at Harleston was totally professional, precise, and compassionate; whilst making sure that I understood everything.
He kept everything on track despite changes that I made, and on the day the service provided by William and Susan Whymark was outstanding. It meant that I could concentrate on my grief at my loss, and know that I had nothing else to worry about.
I would recommend Susan Whymark without hesitation. I cannot praise them too much for providing an excellent service at that difficult time of my life.

A lovely funeral. Whenever we went to a funeral in the village. My husband always used to say, he wanted Susan Whymark to lead my coffin into the church. So it had to be Whymark's. It was a great choice. They made everything easy, which is what you want at a stressful time.

From the very first moment I was met with nothing but compassion understanding and genuine care. Every single person I dealt with treated my late father and me with such dignity, patients, and kindness, and no request was ever too much.
What meant more to me than I can possibly ever Express was being allowed to spend time with my dad's every day. For nearly five weeks I was given the space and time to sit with him for up to two hours a day, never once making me feel rushed or like I wasn't inconvenience. That gift alone has bought me immense comfort and peace, and I will be forever grateful. Throughout the entire process, I felt completely supported – not just professionally but personally. I was treated like a human being going through the hardest moment of my life, not just another client. The empathy compassion and quiet reassurance made an unbearable time just that little bit easier. I cannot thank Susan Mandy Jack Kathy and the rest of the team for the love respect and care they showed my father and me. I will be forever in debted to them for the amazing final journey they helped prepare for my father and without hesitation I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone sadly needing a funeral director as they truly do care

During the whole process of organising Dad's funeral the staff at Susan Whymark were all so calm, compassionate and professional which helped us all during a difficult time. They understood our wishes and helped make sure that the whole day went exactly as we hoped it would. Especially the organisation with the tractor drivers who were part of the funeral cortege. Special thanks to Mandy who managed to get a road open especially for Dad and lead the procession, Ian for organising parking for the family and Cathy for sorting out all other arrangements. We are all extremely grateful.

Losing both Mum and Dad within twelve days of each other was the most devastating experience, and it cannot be overstated how  much the team at Susan Whymark’s helped us through it. From the very first call to the final farewell, every detail was handled with professionalism, sensitivity, and genuine compassion.


I want to mention Louise and Will by name, because they truly deserve to be recognised. Both of them went far beyond what you might expect, showing kindness and thoughtfulness at every turn. They were calm when we were not, clear-headed when we couldn't think straight, and quietly reassuring throughout. Nothing was too much trouble. To arrange a combined cremation for both parents and to do so with such care and dignity is something my family and we will always be grateful for.

Louise and Will never made us feel like we were simply going through a process. They treated our parents as people who mattered, and they treated us with the same respect and warmth. In the darkest and most disorienting weeks of our lives, they were a steady and compassionate presence.

We would recommend this service without hesitation to anyone facing the loss of a loved one. When it matters most, the people here rise to the occasion with real humanity and heart.
