A.W. Lymn’s Bingham funeral home has a proud and long-standing history of serving the local community. Originally opened in 1964 as Bingham and District Funeral Service, the branch operated under the Beeson family alongside their Carlton, Radcliffe-on-Trent and Ruddington locations. All became part of the A.W. Lymn family in 1994, continuing a tradition of professional and compassionate care that dates back to 1907.
The building itself was formerly owned by the Squires family and functioned as the town’s local stonemasons, adding historical significance to the premises. In 2024, the Bingham funeral home underwent extensive refurbishment, introducing new, state-of-the-art facilities designed to offer families a modern, comfortable, and peaceful environment during times of need.
Dominic Lister, who has worked at A.W. Lymn since 2009, is the Funeral Director responsible for the Bingham office. A second-generation funeral director, Dominic lives locally and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. He is a qualified Civil Celebrant and also serves as a tutor for the National Association of Funeral Directors, reflecting his commitment to the highest professional standards and continued education in the funeral profession.

I felt really looked after from start to finish. Nothing was too much for Dominic and I am sure he went over and beyond for me sometimes. I am so overwhelmed at how smoothly everything went including a live web cast, that Dominic suggested to me, of the funeral on the day which meant that those who could not be with us in person could still take part. The Covid19 precautions were there in full which was good but also not so good as all the arrangements had to be by telephone which is never easy. Dominic and the other staff were really thoughtful and talked me and my family through everything when it was needed. I cannot say enough about how great the whole experience at such a terrible time

We cannot fault the service we received from A.W. Lymn Bingham when my mother passed away. From start to finish, all staff we met treated us with empathy and quiet professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble and this helped us cope at a very difficult time. Everything was done to make sure that everything we wanted for the funeral was made available. Our family's wishes were listened to with sympathy and acted upon with efficiency. Any queries we had were answered with clarity and we understood what was going to happen and when it was going to happen. We had confidence that the cortege and funeral service would be well organised which made it so much easier for us to be able to mourn my mother in the way we wanted to; we felt that she had been treated at all times with dignity and respect. We would like to say "Thank You" to everyone at A.W. Lymn, Bingham, for making things easier for us as a family in very difficult circumstances.
