A.W. Lymn’s Bingham funeral home has a proud and long-standing history of serving the local community. Originally opened in 1964 as Bingham and District Funeral Service, the branch operated under the Beeson family alongside their Carlton, Radcliffe-on-Trent and Ruddington locations. All became part of the A.W. Lymn family in 1994, continuing a tradition of professional and compassionate care that dates back to 1907.
The building itself was formerly owned by the Squires family and functioned as the town’s local stonemasons, adding historical significance to the premises. In 2024, the Bingham funeral home underwent extensive refurbishment, introducing new, state-of-the-art facilities designed to offer families a modern, comfortable, and peaceful environment during times of need.
Dominic Lister, who has worked at A.W. Lymn since 2009, is the Funeral Director responsible for the Bingham office. A second-generation funeral director, Dominic lives locally and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. He is a qualified Civil Celebrant and also serves as a tutor for the National Association of Funeral Directors, reflecting his commitment to the highest professional standards and continued education in the funeral profession.

I cannot praise Dominic Lister of A.W.Lymn, Bingham enough. Having dealt with my brother's funeral in 2014, at my specific request he managed everything related to my mother's funeral on November 29th this year. His dealings with me were thorough, reassuring and above all, sensitive. He accommodated my need to move the service time forward a little and he ensured that everything that needed to be done was done without fuss or any sense of stress or tension. He was respectful throughout and a source of strength to me as we entered the church and gathered at the graveside. He had an excellent relationship with his colleagues who went about their work with consummate professionalism.
I was impressed by the way in which the cards, written by members of the congregation, were collected together and presented in a beautiful little folder and I noted that the CDs used for the service were collected before leaving the church.
I would be doing Dominic and Lymns a great injustice to rate the service provided anything less than a five star 'Excellent'.

Dominic was very helpful, kind, considerate and informative. The funeral seem to run very smoothly, comments from people who attended, said that John would have appreciated it and many thought it was a fitting tribute to him. Far more people came than I anticipated, which showed him to be very popular with old work mates, club members, friends and family. He will be missed.

Dominic was really helpful, we changed our minds on the service several times and all amendments were made without question. The cars and flowers on the day of the funeral looked wonderful, also on the day of my dad's death they looked after us really well and explained the process brilliantly

Would of preferred being kept in the loop regarding things a bit more, wasn't informed about when my dad was being collected from the hospital and also wasn't informed about the notice going in the paper only found out it was in from a family friend

Nothing was too much trouble for Dominic. Whatever we wanted he was able to give, including the effort he made to obtain an RAF flag for the coffin.
