With what’s going on around us and in the world today. The service we received via various telephone calls right up to ,during and after the day of my mum’s funeral has been excellent and words to us from the team have been very comforting and reassuring. The service was as professional as it could be under the circumstances we are all in at the moment.

We are so grateful to A W Lymn for arranging my father’s funeral as sensitively and smoothly as they did. They turned what could have been a painful memory into a truly beautiful memory, even more beautiful than my mother or myself had imagined. St. Albans House in Arnold was opened in 1996 by Alison Maddaford in her capacity as President of the National Association of Funeral Directors. The funeral home underwent an extension in late 2012 and was fully refurbished in 2023 to provide modern, comfortable facilities for families.
Led by Funeral Director Russell Kemp, who possesses extensive knowledge of Arnold’s community churches and customs, the funeral home is supported by Funeral Arranger Jessica Raynor and Receptionists/Administrator Beryl Spencer. Together, they offer compassionate and professional funeral services tailored to each family's needs.
St. Albans House provides a range of facilities to ensure dignified and respectful arrangements:

The family feel that for the service’s provided on this occasion the cost was on the high side. We were disappointed that the funeral director didn’t walk in front of the hearse at the house as is a tradition for most. The family felt it would have been better if the van the director was using on this occasion had not been in front of the cortège but following it. Lastly they felt a bit rushed at this sad time.

We are very sorry that at this sad time you felt certain parts of the service provided by our family company were lacking, for that I apologise. During this pandemic we have reduced our professional fee and unfortunately, in order to self distance and protect our staff, we cannot send two members of staff to travel in one vehicle. On this occasion I accept the funeral director probably made a poor call by parking his transport immediately outside the house rather than a little way down the road to enable him to page the funeral away from your home address. He does however inform me that he went ahead of the hearse to the cemetery, parked, and walked in front of the hearse a considerable distance to the graveside. He is also very sorry that you found the funeral a bit rushed. As you had specified that you did not require a Celebrant or a Minister of Religion to take the service our funeral director Russell, provided a short service of committal and read a poem in memory of Winifred which would ordinarily not have been his responsibility. Once again I am so sorry that due to government guidance the number of people allowed at the funeral had to be so restricted.

Was very disappointed when visiting my mum in the chapel of rest. Her hair had not been done and she was dressed incorrectly. This was upsetting as mum hair a clothes were part of who she was. Also she was laid on her side. On the day they were very good considering we could only have burial due to virus. I have used Lymns in the past but might try elsewhere in the future as I was so upset about mum's appearance .

I am very sorry that you were disappointed with the presentation of your mum when you visited her at our funeral home. It is extremely difficult for us to always style the hair in the way that someone did in life, even if we are presented with a photograph. It is such a shame when this happens as inevitably, when someone is seen in their coffin, they are not animated in the way that they had always been and therefore slight differences in the make-up and hair are more noticeable than they otherwise would have been. I am only grateful that everything was perfect on the day of the funeral and do hope that over time you will be able to remember this rather than your last visit to see mum. Thank you and again I apologise.

We were so pleased with the friendly , compassionate and professional service , Thankyou . Particular Thankyou to Russell who helped us arrange the funeral and who we saw on the day and also to Beryl on reception. We had lots of comments from people saying what a lovely service it was . Positive comments about how nice the room and surroundings were, and especially the flowers which were absolutely beautiful . It was also a lovely touch , we thought , how the list of mourners and the comments cards were given to mum in a lovely folder inside a lovely box .

The family would like to thank Lymn's and in particular Russ for his professionalism and respectfulness and the dignity that he gave to my father on the day of the funeral and burial. Lymn's were exceptional at organising the collection of my mother from hospital in a wheelchair in their designated wheelchair friendly vehicle so that she could attend the funeral and made the planning and organising of the funeral and my mothers attendance very easy and straightforward. They were very friendly and approachable and I would highly recommend them.

Everyone was very good & helpful & kind the funeral all went to plan & it was a beautiful service. My only niggle was I would have liked some more deeper blue in the wreath.

Unfortunately blue is quite a difficult colour to incorporate in flowers as there are only a limited selection that are naturally blue in colour. We acknowledge that the delphinium used on this occasion was pale rather than deep blue and apologise if this was not as you had hoped.

We would like to put on record how excellent the service was at A W Lymn of Arnold, we couldn't really have asked for more. As you are aware at such a sad time of losing one's brother you have so much on your mind and we found that all the staff put our minds at rest, they explained and helped us immensely from beginning to the actual service. On the previous day to the funeral, Russell telephoned us at home to tell us how things would proceed and we were very grateful to him, nothing was left to chance. I couldn't have received better kindness, care and efficiency on behalf of Mrs Wilson ( Shelagh) from a fantastic team had she been a superstar. Which to me she was. Everyone, without exception, said what a beautiful send-off we gave her and Glyn, in the streaming of the service, said "what a lovely, lovely service." While it seems somewhat strange leaving a review of such a sad occasion, on behalf of myself and my family I’d like to say how pleased we were with the service we received from Lymn’s.
From our initial meeting with Ellie, who put us at ease with everything that needed to be arranged, through to our regular contact with Beryl, who had a kind and compassionate nature about her. And then finally on the day of the funeral, Mark (I believe that was his name) who was absolutely fantastic with making sure everything ran smoothly on the day, he was faultless, and I’m so glad we had him there to look after us on the day. In fact all the Lymn’s staff that were there on the day were superb.
Therefore I would have no hesitation in recommending Lymn’s to family and friend’s.
I know we as a family would not hesitate in using Lymn’s again, butI hope, not for a long time to come.
