It is hard to put into words just how much Grandad meant to us.

Some of our happiest memories are of the time we spent with him. We remember playing football together in the garden, listening to him tell us that one day he would build us our very own football pitch. We remember making sculptures with him on the beach, spending hours together, never realising at the time how precious those moments would become.

Grandad had the most incredible hands. As a joiner, there seemed to be nothing he couldn’t make, fix or create. He was always building something, always helping someone. One of my most treasured memories is the bunk bed he built for me completely from wood, with a study space underneath. Looking back, it wasn’t just something he made, it was a reflection of who he was. He gave his time, his talent and his love so freely to the people around him.

I will always remember sitting on his knee on holiday as he drove around the field in his car. They may seem like small moments, but they are the memories that stay with us forever, the moments when we felt safe, loved and happy simply because we were with him.

What made Grandad so special wasn’t just what he could do with his hands, but what he did with his heart. He filled every room with warmth, laughter and kindness. He had a way of making people smile, of bringing people together, and of making everyone feel loved. Being with him felt easy. It felt like home.

The greatest gift Grandad gave us was not the things he built, but the memories he created and the love he shared. Those memories are woven through our lives and our family, and they will stay with us forever!

We miss him more than words can say. We miss his smile, his voice, his stories and his presence. But we are so grateful that we were lucky enough to have him in our lives, and that we have so many wonderful memories to hold onto.

Grandad, thank you for every football game, every day at the beach, every act of kindness, every word of encouragement and every moment of love. Thank you for being the wonderful Grandad that you were.

You were deeply loved, and you always will be.

We love you, Grandad. Always. 💙
