From the moment myself and my family met Nicola Anderson at A W Lymn we have been treated with professionalism, dignity and respect which enabled us to give my dear father the funeral he would have wished for and for which we are truly grateful.

A.W. Lymn were did a very good job organising my father's funeral, at all times they were very professional, yet friendly and helpful. On the day everything was exactly as planned, the funeral director was respectful, authoritative, helpful and understanding. I am happy to recommend.

The care and attention to the details of what we wanted for our dearest Pete has been remarkable, there was nothing that this team would not do to make his memories special from the music to the Silver Land Rover. They are the best and as someone who organises Events and quite Picky that says a lot.

Everything had to be done remotely because of covid and as I live 75 miles from Nottingham, but all your staff were kind, efficient and helpful, both making the arrangements beforehand and on the day itself.

Well organised, pleasant efficient people to deal with. Unfortunately there was a cock-up with one of the pieces of music in the service which was not the fault of the funeral directors. Only other criticism of the funeral was that the sound quality at the Gedling Crematory was poor (which was my choice of venue)

Although this is listed as a complaint against the Ilkeston office, it is actually the Stapleford office that was the biggest problem. My fathers body was moved to the Ilkeston office because of the poor service at Stapleford. My father had prepaid for a funeral plan and I think that the service we got was inferior, as the money is guaranteed to the funeral director. I was thinking about doing this myself but following my experience I would not now. My fathers’ body was left at the hospital for about 3 weeks. The funeral director only provided a week of care for my father and would have only covered 15 days if he had been with them longer. I have used other funeral directors in the area and they care for the deceased for an unlimited time, without extra charge. The lady dealing with me at the Stapleford office was unprofessional, rude, argumentative and incompetent. I felt that the experience was about the money and not about customer care. I reported my concerns to the head office and they moved my father to Ilkeston and then the Principal Funeral Director, from the head office took over the arrangements. Apart from the attitude at Stapleford the problems were numerous, including the obituary going in less than a week before the funeral with the photo being originally placed upside down. The day of the funeral went very well due to the Principal Funeral Director, however the final straw was when I received a letter from the finance department about the charitable donations made at the funeral. Apart from spelling mistakes and an incorrect name, my deceased father somehow managed to donate a cheque to his own funeral! I have received an apology for all the problems but they should NOT have happened at a time when someone is grieving for the loss of a parent. There has been no compensation or non monetary recognition for the pain and suffering they caused me, instead I had to pay them extra money for items that were not covered in the funeral plan. I would definitely NOT recommend A W Lymn Funeral Directors

Mrs. Dawes. Thank you for writing a complete review to explain your low star rating. I was aware of the clash of personality in the early stages, not helped by your Father's Pre-Paid Funeral Plan being one with a national firm who do not have a presence in this area rather than a plan purchased from us. I am not going to deny some of the errors, and for these I apologise, but I am pleased that both Nikki at Ilkeston, and Julia our principal Funeral Director looked after things well for you and your family.
