  • 5 Nikki Barwis 1st Aug 2026

My Dad had always said he would want Stibbards to take care of him, their Hadleigh premises were at the end of his road!
From start to finish, communication was very prompt and easy!
Nicola at Hadleigh looked after us, and did her utmost to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible, we had some very specific requests regarding music as wanted my Dads YouTube videos of him playing piano played and a personal video from a local pianist to introduce a piece of music for the commital, all if these little touches were accomodated!!
We had very specific requests as my Dad was a very passionate pianist, so we were guided to the most appropriate ideas, a beautuful Piano keyboard designed coffin, and order of service booklet, which were perfect!
I was able to visit my Dad twice in the Chapel of rest and spend as long with him as I wished even on my Birthday, each of my requests taken seriously and personally.
My Dad had been poorly in hospital prior so unfortunately unable to set foot on the newly laid driveway he had agreed to be installed for ease with his conditions, so we asked if the hearse would be able to park on the drive so he had been on it, also my Dad cycled a particular route to work for 25 years, and swam in the sea almost every day at Leigh and Chalkwell, and because he had lived in the same road for 79 years since the age of 5, he was the longest living resident, so I put leaflets through all the doors to invite the neighbours to wave him off, and Stibbards took him all the routes we requested for his final journey!!
Martin and his team were very caring and reassuring on the day and helped with everything and all of us, where necessary and beyond!!
Stibbards were very professional yet personally caring in making my Dads tribute & service the absolute best it could be!!
    Thank you from

    Martin Stibbards replied
Dear Nikki, thank you for your wonderfully kind words. We are so glad that we were able to listen to your wishes for Dad's funeral and carry out your instructions to ensure he had a fitting farewell. So lovely to see the neighbours out on the day and to take him on one last walk down his road. Dad was certainly an accomplished pianist and the music at the crematorium was the perfect reflection of his passion and skill. Thank you for allowing us to be part of his special day.

The whole team from taking my husband into their care through to laying him to rest were wonderful. Gary & George were so kind and respectful when they arrived at the house, Kate who took my initial meeting was professional and so lovely and Nicola who arranged my chapel visits was very good. • 5 Malc Seaman 13th Jul 2026

Inevitably, it is very difficult to be up-beat about a service so intrinsically linked to the sadness of saying goodbye to someone so loved and so sorely missed However, in terms of the level of care, from both staff in the office and those present on the day of commital, and the attention to detail, I found all at Stibbards to be very personable, helpful and genuinly caring. It made all the difference to me and to my family as we dealt with grief at a time where there were still unpleasant but unavoidable details that had to discussed and arranged. I am grateful for the compassionate and careful way that everything was carried out. Thank you.

    Stuart Fryer replied

  • 5 Tracey Billinghurst 22nd Jun 2026

Stibbards were there for us every step of the way with our Dads passing. Initially we set up a funeral plan a couple of years ago which when the time came then enabled us to concentrate on other details of the funeral. They arrived quickly and professionally to take dad into their care respecting our wishes right from the start. Having lots of children, grand children and great grand children there were a lot of notes to be read to him and for him to take with him and Stibbards took care of everything. What was absolutely lovely was Dad still looked like Dad and for that we are so grateful, he wasn't gone, he was sleeping. On the day itself they accommodated our wishes to pass by the care home and stop so we could thank everyone for his care, and then with respect for dad and care for us all we arrived at the crematorium to his final resting place. Nothing was too much and for this we are eternally grateful. With no hesitation I would use their services again. Thank you all for helping us to celebrate our Dad.

    Leo Reeve replied

Everything they done was extremely professional and caring. Couldn’t have asked for more. There was a mix up with some flowers (nothing to do with Stibbards), which meant we didn’t get the rose bush plants we ordered. During the service, someone from Stibbards went and bought us some. Really went up and beyond want could have been expected.

WOW, Stibbards you team have done it again. Exceptional through and through. Our experience when you dealt with Dad's funeral in 2023 was exceptional and you have done it again with Mum's funeral this month (March 2026). On both occassions the personal touch to the quirks of each of our parents stories was incredible. Your staff are highly professional and very personable. Thank you for making a difficult time as easy and pleasant as could be hoped for.
