A professional caring and friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. We felt that Fiona was exceptional, they cared and supported us throughout the whole process and we felt happy that everything went so smoothly.

After my Dads passing many years ago my mum stated at how disappointed she was in a name that had been well known for years and that she would never use the same company again. So my Mum took it upon herself to book her own funeral and chose A.W.Lymn. She always made a joke saying that she had booked the men in black to come and get her when the call was made as that was one of her favourite films. If she was looking down I can guarantee that she would have been very impressed. The way they presented themselves, there decorum, there poise, there attitude, there compassion from the first steps into the family home to being dropped off at the wake was nothing short of professionalism. I would want this standard for myself as it cannot be compared. This is how it should be conducted. My Mum and Dads arrangements couldn’t have been any further apart.

Formerly an Ilkeston Co-op Funeral Service branch, this home was incorporated by the A W Lymn group in 2003, and then moved next door to a refurbished premises in 2009 and given the title Barton House.
The premises offer a large reception area, two visiting rooms, a private arranging office and there is off-street parking available.
Kevin Hall is the area manager and the office is run by funeral director Fiona Hall.
The office opening times are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but an appointment can be scheduled by calling at any time day or night, seven days a week.
The branch covers all of Spondon and its surrounding area including Alvaston, Borrowash, Chaddesden, Draycott, Elvaston, Oakwood, Ockbrook, Risley and beyond.
A W Lymn is a family owned business since its establishment in 1907 and is currently owned by Jackie, Matthew and Nigel Lymn Rose.

A.W.Lymn made a very difficult period in our lives incredibly bearable. Fiona, Mark, Kevin and Tom were very kind and sympathetic from our very first meeting. They made life a lot easier without any stress and ensured my father’s funeral went ahead without any problems. We cannot thank them enough for making the whole experience a celebration of my fathers life!

Fiona was very kind and helpful guiding me step by step through the procedure at a difficult time. Her expertise and compassion were a great comfort having a wealth of knowledge and experience, being able to advise on a wide span of issues. Mark conduction a very compassionate ceremony at the crematorium focusing on the celebration of my fathers life and family. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

When Richard died there was only one person to turn to and that was Fiona and her team in Spondon.
Fiona has such a calm and professional approach as she guides you through the worst thing in your life. She is always there, makes things happen and has amazing attention to detail; she called me at 6pm the Friday before my husband’s funeral on the Monday to talk me through the whole process to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The day itself was everything Richard would have wanted and that was thanks to Fiona and her amazing team.

From beginning to the end of organising my Mum's funeral, everything was provided to a high standard, thanks to Fiona, she is absolutely a beautiful person inside and out and we could not have asked for a more wonderful person to be by our sides. From the first phone call with Fiona Hall till the end of the funeral service we could not have been better looked after. Fiona was very understanding and showed real compassion and care. Everything was fully discussed with us and at each stage she verified that we were happy with the decisions. The whole proceedings could not have gone better. We, and my late husband’s body were treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Thank you very much.

Fiona made everything so easy and stress free, and I don’t think people appreciate how much work is done by the funeral directors. Cannot thank them enough: the Silver cars were a beautiful addition to a very fitting funeral. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Fiona gets 6 stars.

Sadly we needed to use the services of A W Lymn for the fourth time in recent years. We cannot thank Fiona enough for her kindness, professionalism and compassion as we said goodbye to our lovely Mum. We wanted to arrange the funeral within two weeks whilst our daughter was still in the country. Fiona & Kevin managed to put everything together in such a short space of time. Nothing was too much trouble and Mum was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Fiona is more like a friend to us and we will be forever grateful. We would thoroughly recommend Fiona and her team.
