I thought the service was excellent , as I have said already to my family on a very sad day it was made bearable . Thankyou to everyone envolved.

Prompt response and professional....Used them before for father's funeral.. All went according to plan.  No pressure and involving one in all aspects of choice

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They were very sympathetic to our needs, & worked very hard to secure the staff & services we wanted. The chief mourner was full of cold on the day, clearly quite ill, but did an excellent job throughout. The assistant who organised the bulk of the event worked incredibly hard. Most notably to find us a replacement celebrant when there was a diary clash due to venue availability restrictions. They worked hard to ensure we could get the venue we wanted, and were able to work with the restricted venue availability, despite the challenge of working around the Easter weekend. I would've given 5 stars but there were a couple of a small glitches: The person who conducted our initial interview, and was our chief mourner, wasn't available to organise the funeral, leaving a much less experienced staff member in charge. Whilst that person was amazing and worked incredibly hard to do the best by us, it was a bit misleading. Also, one of the staff who was acting as an usher at the service was incredibly officious, verging on rude to some of the guests. They didn't make themselves known to me (the family representative) or consult with me, unlike everyone else we worked with.

About Us

Located at St. James House, A.W. Lymn’s Hucknall funeral home brings together the heritage of two respected funeral firms – E. Latham and W. Bexon – which became part of the A.W. Lymn family in 1987. Since then, they have continued their tradition of providing compassionate and professional funeral services to the local community.

In addition to caring for families, St. James House also serves as the administration centre for our pre-paid funeral plans, managed in partnership with Ecclesiastical.

The funeral home is overseen by Senior Funeral Director Catherine Broome, a Hucknall local who has been with A.W. Lymn for over 30 years. Catherine also manages the company’s funeral planning department. She is supported by Emma Hind, who joined the company in 2020 and brings additional experience from elsewhere in the funeral profession.

Charis Bull joined the Hucknall team in 2024 after completing the A.W. Lymn apprenticeship and is now a qualified funeral arranger and member of several professional organisations including the British Institute of Embalmers.

This branch serves Hucknall, Annesley, Annesley Woodhouse, Bestwood Country Park, Bestwood Village, Blidworth, Eastwood, Heanor, Jacksdale, Linby, Newstead Village, Papplewick, Ravenshead, Selston, Silverdale, Thrumpton, Underwood and Westwood

A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service was established in 1907 and is proudly owned and run by the Lymn Rose family.
