About Us
The office is located at Standard House, on Chesterfield Road South, and is a two storey building directly across from the Catholic Church of Saint Philip Neri. Standard House was opened on 12th July 2005 by Dr. Nigel Chapman, H. M. Coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, to better serve Mansfield’s families.
The premises include a reception area, visitation rooms, family room, off-street parking, some garaging for our fleet cars and cold room facilities.
Funeral director David Clarke is in charge of the office, and Jonathan Baker is the senior funeral director responsible for the area. Wendy Walker, a qualified funeral director, is based here when not covering holidays or sickness for the Mansfield funeral homes. David is available at the funeral home from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can arrange an appointment at your convenience if you are unable to visit the office during opening hours. The telephone line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The branch covers all of Mansfield and its surrounding area including Berry Hill, Blidworth, Church Warsop, Clipstone, Forest Town, Harlow Wood, Ladybrook, Mansfield Woodhouse, Pleasley, Rainworth, Ravenshead, Shirebrook, Warsop, Warsop Vale and beyond.
Established in 1907, A W Lymn The Family Funeral Service is owned and managed by the Lymn Rose family. Nowadays, Nigel, Jackie and Matthew Lymn Rose run the company.
What Families Say
AI SummaryMany families describe meticulous attention to communication throughout the process, from initial contact through to the funeral day itself, with staff keeping them regularly informed of arrangements and timings. Families repeatedly mention that staff listened carefully to their wishes and made few or no requests feel like too much trouble, whether accommodating specific requests about how their loved one should be dressed, arranging special touches like memorial seeds or dove releases, or liaising with external services like churches and cemeteries.
On the day of the funeral, families note that the service ran smoothly and without fuss, with drivers and staff treating them with warmth and care during the journey and at the crematorium or venue. Many describe feeling reassured and at ease because they knew everything had been organised properly and that their loved one was being treated with dignity.
Families frequently return to how the staff helped reduce their stress at an already difficult time, by taking decisions out of their hands, explaining options clearly without pressure, and providing emotional support alongside practical assistance. Several mention that having one point of contact who guided them through every stage made arranging a funeral far less daunting than they had feared.

From the moment we contacted A.W.Lymm the service was excellent. They listened to what we wanted, offered advice when requested and were professional at all times. It was really helpful that they liaised with the graveyard and church to arrange the service and a choir to sing at Dad’s funeral. The fact that they had an onsite florist & could arrange the funeral booklet made things so much easier. I loved the extra touches such as the memorial seeds that we handed out to those attending the funeral-something my garden loving Dad would have appreciated. A special shout out to Colum and David. You both made this difficult time go much more smoothly. I cannot thank you for the care you took of my Dad and the respectful way you helped us plan the funeral.

From the beginning process right up untill the day of the funeral David was so helpful and on hand with everything, the cars and flowers were beautiful, our driver I think she was called Louise, she was so warm and caring and made our journey to the crem very pleasant. The little touches of releasing doves just made celebrating my aunt's life feel a happy occasion rather than focusing on sad times. Releasing the doves helped lift everyone's spirits, it was a perfect end to the day.

Thank you is just not enough for the care and dignity of my sons funeral. From the initial meeting they offered so much help and advice. The funeral was conducted with utmost dignity, even the smallest request was given every importance, including the celebrant Philip who was the perfect person to reflect my sons life. Many, many thanks.
