As a family, we would like to thank wholeheartedly, Greg, Neil, and the whole of A W Lymn who looked after and cared for Beatrice. In addition to the emotional support we had throughout the whole process. Nothing was too much and all we wanted was fulfilled to a beautiful celebration of a deeply missed member of our family. The professionalism paired with personable service is commendable and I would encourage everyone to use A W Lymn to provide care for their loved ones. Thank you everybody you are fantastic. Best Wishes, Kyria, Julia and Michael

Greg and the whole team were kind/understanding/sympathetic and respectful towards us following the loss of our Father. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the process stress free- this leaves us with good memories of arranging his final farewell. Forever grateful , we can highly recommended the company and team .

Words can't describe the way I feel. People always say nobody is perfect. But for me these funeral directors are. They were outstanding very compassionate caring and kind. I know its their job but they made me feel so special they took great care of my mum she looked so peaceful and beautiful at rest. From the very first meeting with Greg at the office to the heart wrenching final goodbye they were there patiently. This was so touching and soothing as I felt there was no rush and this above everything helped me cope better Kevin took the time to introduce himself and listened so patiently There are many things to say and I know this review is very long but I can't stop writing and remembering. The celebrant, Claire was so good at writing that it felt like she knew my mum she took great care to get everything just right. I dreaded going to see my mum in her coffin as I didn't want to say goodbye but Greg made it better there were candles and I remember thinking my mum loved candles I wish she could see them silly I know. Then the dreaded moment of seeing mum it was a shock because she looked so peaceful I had expected she would have a pained expression. I had asked that she have subtle makeup and her red dress and she had been dressed and everything to the smallest detail had been done. This was a great comfort to me as it will remain in my mind forever. This is what is makes Lym funerals in my mind perfect and outstanding. I will forever have that beautiful image of my mum on my mind. The funeral is too too hard to write about but it's important for me to say if your looking for your sad day to be as perfect as possible please choose these. They care its more than a job I know lots say this about funeral directors nurses doctors and others in caring professions but I felt cared for and I can't find any words to express this Thank you for making my mum look beautiful. Thank you for all of your kindness care and compassion Ruth, daughter of Denise Elaine Elliott

About Us
Located in the heart of Derby city centre, Derwent House on Becket Street has been proudly serving the local community since 1986, when it was first opened by respected funeral director David Meek. Originally a car garage, the building was transformed into a funeral home and continues to offer compassionate support to families from Derby and beyond.
Today, Derwent House serves as the base for Senior Funeral Director Kevin Hall, who has been with A.W. Lymn since 2003 and manages services across the wider Derby area. Kevin is joined by Funeral Director Mick Schofield, who recently transferred from the Ilkeston funeral home, bringing with him a wealth of experience and local knowledge. Funeral Arranger Greg Martin, who has recently earned his Diploma in Funeral Directing from the National Association of Funeral Directors, is also based at this funeral home and provides kind, professional support to families every day.
Derwent House is equipped with specialist washing facilities to support Asian and African-Caribbean funeral rites. The building also houses garaging for the Derby fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantom funeral vehicles, including a converted hearse formerly owned by Simon Cowell, and features a historic horse-drawn hearse from the 1890s.
This location serves the entire Derby area, including Allestree, Alvaston, Belper, Breadsall, Chaddesden, Darley Abbey, Duffield, Littleover, Mackworth, Markeaton, Osmaston, Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon, and surrounding communities.
A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service was founded in 1907 by Arthur William Lymn and is now proudly led by the fourth fifth generation of the Lymn Rose family who continue to uphold the family’s long-standing commitment to dignity, professionalism and exceptional care.
