From the first phone call, Lymn's staff hit perfectly the balance between sympathy and pragmatism. They gave us space to make our own decisions but also straightforward and practical advice where we needed it, from the planning meeting right through to the ceremony itself. It was exactly what we wanted.
A.W. Lymn's Derby office was originally opened by funeral director David Meek in 1986 and the premises are located in the City Centre, at Derwent House, on Becket Street.
The office features garaging for a new fleet of Rolls Royce Phantom cars and also displays a hearse from the 1890’s. Derwent House includes a reception, off-street parking, a family room, a visitation room, cold room facilities and washing facilities for Asian and African / Caribbean funeral rites.
Kevin Hall, the senior funeral director who manages the surrounding area, has been with A W Lymn since 2003 and is aided at the branch by funeral director Neil Reeves and funeral arranger Greg Martin.
The office opening hours are 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 12.30 pm on Saturday. You can call anytime of the day, seven days a week to schedule an appointment outside of these hours if you would prefer.
This branch covers Derby city centre and its surrounding areas including Allestree, Alvaston, Belper, Breadsall, Chaddesden, Darley Abbey, Duffield, Littleover, Mackworth, Markeaton, Osmaston, Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon and beyond.
Nigel Lymn Rose along with his son Matthew and his sister Jackie own and manage A W Lymn The Family Funeral Service.

I have no words for the gratitude and appreciation I have for the Derby Beckett Street branch. All staff work so hard to go above and beyond. Kevin has been working closely with the family to make sure everything is perfect for our mum. His professionalism is on a level that can not be brought. Nothing is ever to much for all the staff and they make you feel so at ease with the loss of a loved one and arranging a funeral. All staff have been amazing throughout and we are so very thankful. They have looked after my mum and prepared her with so much love and care. So glad we changed from our original choice the this company for mums funeral arrangements. I will never use anywhere else in the future. Highly recommend this branch and all the staff.

From the very first phone call you guided us through the proceedings with nothing but great dignity, compassion and thoughtfulness. Our mum was laid to rest really nicely and she looked so peaceful in the chapel. We felt truly looked after.
We would definitely recommend you to others, nothing seemed to much trouble.

Although I had used Lymns in Beckett Street, Derby, 18months ago for my father and thought they were brilliant in handling everything, the recent experience for my mother can only be described as exceeding all expectations. I feel that Kaitlan went above and beyond to help me cope with everything. Nothing was too much trouble. A huge thank you to Neil & Katlin and staff at Lymns Derby. The celebration of the Life of my Aunt Jessie was very well organised and all went smoothly. Neil was excellent and most understanding with my Uncle Ted , making sure he was able to attend the funeral , the wake and getting him home afterwards. Five stars is not enough.

Neil and the team at Derby have been absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We had to do everything as no plans we’re in place. After making contact with Neil, he helped me and my family with all the arrangements and together we had arranged the perfect send off.

First rate service - nothing was too much trouble for Fiona. It was especially comforting at such a sad time for myself and Katy my daughter. I know she will say that it was her job, but the personal service we received made it feel as if we were the only people in the world in this situation. Neil and Kaitlin was absolutely fantastic . Thank you so much for all your help . I didn’t have a clue what to do or where to start until I spoken to Neil he helped me through the whole process Kaitlin was absolutely fantastic with the planning. Karen the lady that lead the service was also fantastic. She Managed to get me talking about my mother in law memory’s without realising. Which led to a beautiful eulogy.
