I cannot rate A W Lymn more highly.
My sister’s funeral was slightly unusual, as we had a service in Derby and a committal in Northumberland. It was clear from the outset that nothing was too much trouble; everything was meticulously planned, with compassion, which was a great relief to the family. A W Lymn ensured that my sister had the send-off she deserved.

So incredibly friendly. All our wishes were respected and the service was honest and heartwarming without being saccharine. Greg was an absolute superstar, Richard, our Officiant was warm and his understanding of our father’s personality clearly communicated. Whilst Keith added both dignity and grace to the funeral. The whole family were very impressed with the compassion and level of communication not only in the planning, the day itself but also when collecting Dad’s ashes. Thank you for ensuring that the day was perfect in every way possible by truly listening and being so accommodating.
Located in the heart of Derby city centre, Derwent House on Becket Street has been proudly serving the local community since 1986, when it was first opened by respected funeral director David Meek. Originally a car garage, the building was transformed into a funeral home and continues to offer compassionate support to families from Derby and beyond.
Today, Derwent House serves as the base for Senior Funeral Director Kevin Hall, who has been with A.W. Lymn since 2003 and manages services across the wider Derby area. Kevin is joined by Funeral Director Mick Schofield, who recently transferred from the Ilkeston funeral home, bringing with him a wealth of experience and local knowledge. Funeral Arranger Greg Martin, who has recently earned his Diploma in Funeral Directing from the National Association of Funeral Directors, is also based at this funeral home and provides kind, professional support to families every day.
Derwent House is equipped with specialist washing facilities to support Asian and African-Caribbean funeral rites. The building also houses garaging for the Derby fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantom funeral vehicles, including a converted hearse formerly owned by Simon Cowell, and features a historic horse-drawn hearse from the 1890s.
This location serves the entire Derby area, including Allestree, Alvaston, Belper, Breadsall, Chaddesden, Darley Abbey, Duffield, Littleover, Mackworth, Markeaton, Osmaston, Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon, and surrounding communities.

I cannot speak highly enough of the service we received from A W Lymn. We were let down by another funeral director and therefore Lymns had to step in at short notice. Greg was amazing, saw us the same day, took the stress off my shoulders and put everything in place to give the send off the family wanted for my mum.

Thank you to the team at A W Lymn for the care and support given to us as a family as we arranged the Funeral for our beautiful Mum.
Greg was very professional, compassionate, supportive, attentive and informative and helped us to arrange for Mum to have the most wonderful and loving final journey.
It was very comforting to know that Mum was looked after by such a caring company.
Greg managed the communication between the Church and the Crematorium and nothing was too much trouble and whenever we needed to ask questions then Greg responded without any unnecessary delays either by email or telephone.
On the day itself Kevin the funeral director was very professional and ensured that we arrived at the Church and Crematorium on time.
Thank you also to Chris who drove the hearse and to Caroline who drove the family car for their support on the day.
The funeral cars which were both Rolls Royce’s and really added that extra special touch for Mum to ensure that her final journey was truly special.
The flowers from the in-house florist for the coffin spray were lovely even down to the special request for Black Watch Tartan ribbon to be weaved into the flowers - this was just perfect.
We also asked Greg design and print the Order of Service and Memorial Cards and these were a perfect tribute to Mum.
As a family we would highly recommend Greg and the team at Lymn's to take care of your loved ones.

This is the second time we have used Lymn funeral services and yet again the service has been excellent Greg has been there for us every step of the way and as always been their to answer any questions we had everything was done with care compassion and dignity also thanks to Kev who was there to meet us at the crematorium and walked the hurst down to the chapel everything was done beautifully and with compassion I would recommend Lymms to anyone who is looking for a lovely send off for a loved one
