Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do when someone dies?
When someone dies you need to get a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death from a doctor, register their death and choose a funeral director to arrange their funeral. The Registration Office will give you a Death Certificate and Certificate for Burial or Cremation (GR021 in Northern Ireland).
Read moreHow do you arrange a funeral?
You can arrange a funeral by choosing a funeral director who will help you organise all of the details. They can help you decide whether to have a cremation or burial and what type of service to choose, as well as additional options, such as music and flowers. You can find out what happens at a funeral and compare funeral directors on Funeral Guide.
Read moreHow much does a funeral cost?
The cost of a funeral depends on where you are in the UK and whether you choose a burial or a cremation. Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular, but can often be more expensive than burial in a traditional cemetery. The cost of coffins, flowers, catering and transport also varies a lot. There is also an almost unlimited list of options for personalising a service, such as professional funeral singers or a motorcycle-hearse. You can compare the price of funeral directors on Funeral Guide.

Wonderful caring people Nothing was too much trouble Very professional with compassion Could not thank them enough
Absolutely wonderful, caring and extremely thoughtful as always, we have used these guys for years for our family funerals an always been perfect, thank you.
Excellent service provided. Despite COVID restrictions my mother’s funeral went really well. Jamie Knight was excellent and guided me through things with a great deal of sympathy and care. Would recommend.
Jamie and his team had previously arranged family member funerals and my recent Mum's funeral was carried out with the same dignity, expertise and personal care as before. Speaking to Jamie and Shirlee is like talking to extended family. When I made my first call to Shirlee, I took great comfort from our conversation. They are all consummate professionals when it comes to providing that very personal touch. I have had previous experience with other funeral directors and I can confidently say that JF Knight Funeral Director Services are second to none.
Warren gave our family first class help and support during the bereavement of our mother. Caring and thoughtful, Thank you so much. All of the Ward Family
