Established in 1999 by Jonathan Terry, who has been dedicated to the funeral profession since 1985, they have built a solid reputation for delivering personal and excellent service to families throughout Southampton and beyond.
Over the years, Jonathan Terry have continuously reinvested in their business to ensure that they offer the best possible support to their families. In 2008, in response to the growing demand from families on the eastern side of Southampton, they opened their London Road funeral home.
A significant milestone in their journey came in December 2018 when they acquired 103 Peartree Avenue and launched the White Lily Centre, a bereavement centre offering counselling services to all. The White Lily Centre stands as a symbol of their commitment to supporting families beyond the funeral itself.
In May 2022, their services were further enhanced with the introduction of a new fleet of Mercedes hearses and limousines, ensuring that every aspect of your loved one's final journey is conducted with the utmost care and professionalism.

The London Road funeral home opened in 2008 and relocated to 10 College Place in 2025, opposite the Crown Courts of Southampton, and is under the direction of Ms Sarah Ockwell and Ms Natalie Day. Their opening times are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday but they are available 24-hours a day by telephone.

The one thing you don't want after the loss of a loved one is the additional stress of putting together a funeral. Jonathan Terry's team took away this stress with such professionalism. I was introduced directly to Jon(athan) by a mutual friend as "I didn't know where to start". Although I worked mainly with the College Place team on the details, Sarah in particular, Jon actually took the lead on the day, which felt an honour and I greatly appreciated his involvement and support on such a significant occasion. Sarah was wonderful throughout the preparations, perfectly balancing care and consideration for me at a very difficult time with evident professional competence and expertise, and nudging me along when a decision was necessary. I used an independent Humanist Celebrant, Kate, who had worked with Sarah and the rest of Jonathan Terry's team previously. I had very much wanted to be thoroughly involved in developing the details of the secular Celebration of Jill, my wife, and her life: the Celebrant's text, the contributions from additional speakers, the music, the photographic display, etc., etc., and this is exactly how we worked. It was a genuine team effort. I strongly recommend turning to Jonathan Terry Independent Funeral Directors if you have similar needs and views to mine. You can rely on all the people I've mentioned - not forgetting Tom at College Place too, although we only exchanged brief conversatins along the way - to help you fulfill your hopes for an appropriate and memorable tribute to your loved one.

Jonathan Terry were amazing from the first day we went in to discuss my mother's funeral right up to the actual day.
We met Tom who had a very calming approach. He was kind, efficient not condescending and was not on a sales pitch. He was understanding to our needs and responsive to everything we asked him. A genuinely lovely man. Tom was also there on the day of the funeral and talked us through the whole process. It was nice to see a familiar face. Thank you Jonathan Terry for making the whole process bearable.

The service received from Jonathan Terry Independent Funeral Directors, London Road, was second to none, they were so professional yet caring. They helped with everything and nothing was too much trouble. If I could give then 10 stars out of 5 I would. What I especially liked was that they said: “they would look after mum for me” and they did that wonderfully. On the day of the funeral everything was done to perfection. I can not recommend them highly enough. If you want Funeral Directors who are professional, understanding, thoughtful, compassionate, caring & considerate these are the people to use.

From start to finish the service provided by Tom & Sarah at Jonathan Terry - London Road was second to none. We can’t thank them enough for what they did for our dads final journey and for taking care of him. The daunting process of organising our fathers funeral was made so much easier by having caring & compassionate support by Tom and Sarah. Everything was faultless and couldn’t of wished for a better send off for our Dad. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Jonathan Terry were very helpful from the start to the end and were very supportive from the start as to what we would like, if there were any requirements, and guided us through with very supportive information, this company are very clear and get things that are required put into place without any trouble. they are supportive and guide you throughout this distressing and worrying time, they take the time to make this sad time as easy as possible on the people that are left behind. I would recommend this company to anyone that are looking for a trustworthy funeral director to look after you and your needs.

Funerals are never easy, however this was my first experience of organising one and during lockdown period it was a daunting experience I dreaded. Margaret and everyone at Johnathan Terry were all so lovely! They were considerate to our feelings and helped so much from start to finish! My mum passed away in my home and from the initial call someone was there to gently take her away! The care of her and me and all our family was amazing! Thank you to everyone there for making it as easy as a funeral can be!

We can not thank Margaret and Sarah and Ed and the other gentlemen at the service for everything they have done for us. They have gone above and beyond especially with sorting out our flowers. The best thing was giving Dad his last ride On a Harley motorbike as a hurst was such a special touch. They have made us feel safe and looked after and guided through one of the hardest things we have had to do, Dad was only young and they made us feel so at ease and supported us through every stage. They took such great care of our Dad. A massive thank you to you all x
