In loving memory of Clare O'Brien who sadly passed away on 1st August 2026

My beloved Clare died in Mountbatten Hospice on 1st August The care she received was wonderful - professional, caring and loving.
She was the love of my life and we had twenty very special years together. She was lovely, kind, clever, funny, compassionate and had a wicked sense of humour.
She was a wonderful district nurse for many years at Chessil Surgery.
She was also a very talented cook both for ourselves, friends and for Bishops Waltham Country Market where she made many friends both fellow cooks and customers.
Clare had green fingers and transformed our garden yearly to a riot of colour. She loved her cats and spoiled them rotten!! Clare loved reading and had an impressive range of literally tastes. She loved puzzles and jigsaws - always one on the go. She made sure our house was transformed into a warm comfortable and special home.
She underwent Chemotherapy for two years which gave us extra precious time together and enabled us to say everything we needed to each other - again the treatment was exceptional throughout the journey. Clare had an amazing facility to befriend and talked to many of her fellow chemotherapy patients and spent many hours learning about each other’s lives. Often they told her things they had told no one else knowing she would understand and keep safe
Clare was worried that she might not live to see her grandson William but he was born just before Christmas 2025 & she was so happy to meet and know him for these last eight months.
Clare will be loved and deeply missed by all her family and many friends

Clare was the most exceptional person I have ever met and I count myself blessed to have spent these twenty years with her.

Clare’s loving husband

Nick
