The Modern Funeral

My sister and I were very impressed with The Modern Funeral. We had been given a number of funeral directors to contact and ploughed our way through the list one by one. It soon became obvious that they were reluctant to advise over the ‘phone without us committing to a contract.   We had not had to deal with planning a funeral before and we needed guidance . The Modern Funeral were the exception, we found their response to be understanding and helpful from the very beginning and also sympathetic to our late sister’s wishes. 
Meeting with Tora and her team confirmed our first impressions.  Thank you to Gitte for conducting the ceremony with such humility, for taking the time to learn about our sister’s life. Thank you to The Modern Funeral for your caring approach and support in planning our sister’s “farewell” .

It is hard to find the right words to express my deep gratitude to Tora and her colleagues for the way in which they me organise my wife's funeral after her unanticipated  death. The mix of practical and emotional support helped us organise a funeral and celebration of life that reflected the way in which my wife had lived her own life and supported our family.

The Modern Funeral were so attentive ot the important things, giving us enough choices, whilst also mimimising all of the complex parts of the arrangements. At the precise time when we were grieving and in distress, when we din't have any headspace for dealing with things, they took the trickiness away, leaving us the opportunity to focus on what mattered.

I was absolutely delighted with the service from The Modern Funeral. I approached them with some fairly difficult and unusual requests, at very short notice, and they were able to provide everything we needed and went above and beyond the call of duty at every stage. On top of this they were extremely reasonably-priced and the whole family felt supported and informed throughout. Most importantly we never felt stressed or overwhelmed by the process and we always felt in full control and secure in the knowledge that we were in the safest possible hands, we could not recommend The Modern Funeral highly enough.

I cannot speak highly enough of The Modern Funeral and Tora who worked with us on my stepfathers funeral. The support that she gave in organising everything was amazing and at all times she showed compassion and empathy. She helped to organise every step and always guided us and took time to really understand who my stepfather was and what was important to us and to him. She was then able to suggest and advise on aspects of the service which I would not have thought of but made the service perfect. On the day she was there for all of us and gave the eulogy beautifully and with feeling and supported us when we spoke. The prices were so reasonable and she worked with us to meet both a budget and the perfect service for Peter. Thank you so much for making such a hard, stressful and emotional time so much easier for us all and for delivering a wonderful service for Peter.

From the first moment I spoke to Tora I knew we were in safe hands. We were impressed with her professionalism, guidance and kindness to our family. She made the funeral service so personal and was able to guide us through a very difficult time as our son’s  funeral was in lockdown with very different  circumstances for funeral directors & families to organise.

It is with great sadness at this time in our lives on the death of the matriarch of the family Dulcie at the ripe old age of 96 on the 4th January and then shortly afterwards on the 10th January our son in law Rob at the age of 44 that we found ourselves in need of a funeral home to help us plan and execute 2 very touching and emotional cremation services. We were referred to The Modern Funeral by a good friend and we can only say that Tora with her team provided an exceptional service at what was really quite short notice arranging the recovery of the deceased from the hospital mortuary, arrangement of an appropriate crematorium, hearse and all the trappings at a very realistic and affordable price. We cannot express our thanks and appreciation enough for their loving and compassionate support through this difficult process.

The Modern Funeral provided a very friendly and personal service for my husband. There were special circumstances required for his preparation and funeral, all of which were dealt with sensitively and efficiently. My husband and I took the opportunity to meet with the team prior to his death and he was able to let them know exactly how he wanted his service to be. They also helped with our request for live music by consulting with the artists directly regarding these arrangements. The most important part of the process for myself was the close personal contact with Taura the Funeral Director who was sensitive to our wishes and feelings and was easily approachable for advise. Our day went exactly as planned and we cant thank them enough for all the help they gave us. All at an extremely competitive price. I can highly recommend them.
