Following the sudden and unexpected death of my dad we contacted Jill who reassured us from the outset that she would deal with everything on our behalf, and she did just that and much more. Her professionalism, empathy and personable approach was so valuable to my family and I, as she helped to navigate us through a devastating time. As well as the 'standard' stuff that needs organised, Jill highlighted things we would never have considered, but these added extras, will now give us lasting memories of my dad forever. Jill is clearly passionate about what she does and has a unique ability to relate to the families she works with, recognising that everyone deals with grief differently and she tailors her service to all the family members affected, in our case this included young children. It has been a number of weeks now since my dad's funeral but Jill still checks in on us, offering her support long after the bill has been paid. That level of ongoing support was never expected but is something I have been incredibly grateful for. I cannot recommend Jill and her team’s services highly enough.

The company was established in October 2018 by Jill Glencross. Jill has 24 years experience in Pathology at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she worked closely with the Coroner, Human Tissue Authority and other Funeral Directors. Jill also worked as a Volunteer at Eden Valley Hospice and as a Health Care on the bank at the hospital. Jill and her Team have won many awards in the last three years - New Business of the Year 2020, Employee of the Region 2021 and Number 1 Best Funeral Director in Carlisle 2022.
They offer access to a wide variety of coffins and caskets, from traditional materials through to eco-friendly options like wicker or bamboo coffins. They can help arrange natural or woodland burials, and offer a huge range of bespoke transport options including VW hearses, horse drawn carriages or even a JCB.

Following the tragic passing of Sophie, Jill was such a great comfort and support. Jill and her team worked so hard to make sure that we had everything in place to give Sophie the best possible send off, one that she deserved. Nothing was too much to ask and Jill went above and beyond any expectations to make sure that we had so much support and comfort in such a difficult time. I can't thank Jill and her team enough for everything they have done. I would definitely recommend Jill Glencross Funeral Directors to anyone as the level of support and professionalism is exemplary and unrivalled.

A Marvellous Service
Our family made an initial approach to two local funeral directors when my wife was dying and only Jill was willing to reply and answer questions, so we went with Jill. What a blessing we did. Jill was able to provide an absolutely professional service along with the personal, human qualities so needed at a time of loss. We all consider my wife’s funeral as so positive, being uplifting and consoling, well-organised by Jill with the right degree of discreet support from her and her colleagues.
