From the first interaction, such care, courtesy and respect was given to me, my husband, who had died, and my family.
Teresa was our Funeral Director. She made us all feel our ideas and questions were listened to, giving each of us an opportunity to play an individual part in my husband’s care and his service. We felt totally supported.
Nothing at all was too much bother. We cannot praise her and the wider team highly enough. Jill was present at the service and, although we hadn’t met her before, she was so caring and kept us updated at every step. Thank you all.

The company was established in October 2018 by Jill Glencross. Jill has 24 years experience in Pathology at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she worked closely with the Coroner, Human Tissue Authority and other Funeral Directors. Jill also worked as a Volunteer at Eden Valley Hospice and as a Health Care on the bank at the hospital. Jill and her Team have won many awards in the last three years - New Business of the Year 2020, Employee of the Region 2021 and Number 1 Best Funeral Director in Carlisle 2022.
They offer access to a wide variety of coffins and caskets, from traditional materials through to eco-friendly options like wicker or bamboo coffins. They can help arrange natural or woodland burials, and offer a huge range of bespoke transport options including VW hearses, horse drawn carriages or even a JCB.
Their funeral home in Carlisle has two peaceful and private chapels of rest as well as an arrangement lounge where you can discuss your loved ones funeral in comfort. If you prefer a home visit, that can also be arranged.

The team took excellent care of my Mam and supported us as a family through one of the hardest times. Someone was always there at the end of the phone if needed. The Funeral Home is beautiful and a lovely calm place to visit your loved ones. The care and respect given by the whole team was appreciated by us all.

Thank you to everyone at Gill Glencross Funeral Directors but particularly for Teresa for looking after Marjory, Keith and I . You made a very difficult time so much easier and took all the stress out of a really difficult time for our family. Your sense of humour was brilliant and you were also so friendly but so professional. You explained every step, kept us informed and looked amazing on the back of the bike !!!!! Claire and all the team who looked after us during the loss of our lovely mum did so with compassion and professionalism. Everything was just as we hoped and they even took mum past her old house on the way to the funeral. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this caring team.

Outstanding service, so professional but at the same time considerate and caring in very sad circumstances.
Always at the other end of the phone with answers however big or small.
Before during and after Mams service each member of staff treat us with kindness and respect.

Where do I start?from the first time we met Jill and her team,they made us feel so comfortable at a very difficult time.
