Bridgewater Funeral Service Ltd is an independent, family-owned and family-run funeral director based in Boothstown, Worsley, serving bereaved families across Boothstown, Worsley, Walkden, Astley and the surrounding areas of Greater Manchester. Established in 2014, the funeral home was founded by Michael Turnbull along with his wife, Funeral Director and Proprietor Emma Turnbull, who has more than 30 years' experience supporting local families with funeral arrangements.
Located at 27 Chaddock Lane, opposite Boothstown Methodist Church, Bridgewater Funeral Service provides a welcoming and private environment where families can make funeral arrangements at their own pace. The premises were extensively renovated before opening to the public in May 2019 and include spacious reception areas, private arrangement rooms, three chapels of rest, private parking and facilities designed with accessibility in mind. Public areas are situated on one level, with wide doorways and suitable toilet facilities.
Emma Turnbull has been caring for families in the local community for more than three decades. Before establishing Bridgewater Funeral Service, she had already spent a number of years within the profession. Emma is a long-term licensed member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors and holds nationally recognised professional qualifications. Bridgewater Funeral Service is also an approved member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and subscribes to its Code of Practice. The funeral home’s embalmer is fully qualified and a licensed member of the British Institute of Embalmers.

From the very first phone call with Emma, the Bridgewater team have been above exceptional with there level of support, ideas and professionalism.
They guided us through the heart wrenching process of arranging the funeral and helping facilitate some unusual requests, ie live streaming the service.
They prepared my Wife so beautifully, and everything arranged with such dignity.
The day itself went flawlessly with so many comments from family at what an exceptional job Bridgewater did.

Abbie and Michael at BFS provided the most exceptional service in relation to my Mum's Funeral. They managed to balance professionalism and efficiency with compassion and empathy. Our experience was smooth, caring and painless! The cost of the funeral was less than we expected. You perhaps shouldn't talk about value for money - but in this case - we will. I cannot praise Emma,Abby and Mike their team at Bridgewater Funeral Services highly enough for their care and respect to both my mum ,myself and family at such a difficult time. I felt such a sense of relief once mum had been collected from the hospital and taken into their care, where I was confident she would be well looked after until we could lay her to rest.
Planning a funeral is so hard, it is the last thing we can do for our loved one and you want to get it right. With Emma's guideance and the skills of Abby and Mike together we pulled off the most perfect day. I had some specific ideas of what I wanted to make it very personal to mum and they 'got me'. I was sensitively guided to what would and wouldnt work and informed of what was happening every step of the way. While I’ve attended many funerals I have never had to organise one until recently. I googled funeral director in the area, read the reviews and made a call to Bridgewater Funeral Service. My plan was to ring a few and make my decision but after my conversation with Abbie I knew that I wanted them to take care of my Mum’s funeral. Abbie took the time to explain everything to me, asking questions and listening to me, I felt completely reassured. I honestly couldn’t be happier with the way everything was handled from start to finish. Abbie and the team are amazing and I would highly recommend using them.

The shock and upset of losing our Mam was beyond words. We had no experience in arranging a funeral, but had been in contact with Bridgewater the day before she passed, and even though at that time we had not instructed them to arrange our Mam's funeral, after a quick phone call in the early hours of the morning, they came out to the Nursing Home where she had passed away to remove her, with dignity, to their premises. After that, up and until and after Mam's funeral, we were kept informed with everything in the most caring and compassionate manner. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble for them to deal with and the whole family cannot thank Emma, Michael and Abby enough for making the most difficult time in our lives easier to deal with.
