Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do when someone dies?
When someone dies you need to get a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death from a doctor, register their death and choose a funeral director to arrange their funeral. The Registration Office will give you a Death Certificate and Certificate for Burial or Cremation (GR021 in Northern Ireland).
Read moreHow do you arrange a funeral?
You can arrange a funeral by choosing a funeral director who will help you organise all of the details. They can help you decide whether to have a cremation or burial and what type of service to choose, as well as additional options, such as music and flowers. You can find out what happens at a funeral and compare funeral directors on Funeral Guide.
Read moreHow much does a funeral cost?
The cost of a funeral depends on where you are in the UK and whether you choose a burial or a cremation. Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular, but can often be more expensive than burial in a traditional cemetery. The cost of coffins, flowers, catering and transport also varies a lot. There is also an almost unlimited list of options for personalising a service, such as professional funeral singers or a motorcycle-hearse. You can compare the price of funeral directors on Funeral Guide.

Excellent service from start to finish, a massive thank You u to Sally for all of your help, compassion and empathy.
Everything was dealt with in a very professional manner by mr Blair and I would highly recommend this service.
We are all so pleased with all services provided and the respect and dignity that not only my mother was provided with but also the rest of our family, particularly at a very emotional and stressful time. Many thanks from the Mason family
To James Gourlay I would like to say a massive Thank You for the help and kindness shown to my Family on the loss of our Dear Dad (Joe Buckle), Everything was very organised and done with the utmost care,I must give the Biggest Thank You to James Gourlay. He is so calm and caring and takes so much time and interest into helping sort things out, when its needed. James also arranged for our Minister Roderick Cox I can,t Thank him enough for Dads Service I hope my appreciation is passed on. I would not and will not hesitate to recommend yourselfs and will not forget the excellent service which you provided.Doreen Anderson
I was disappointed with the service I received. I had particular difficulties getting the order of service completed to my satisfaction. I was sent several drafts by the funeral director with typing errors and fonts of varying sizes put together which looked awful. I had to keep phoning to point out errors which is an added hassle when you are trying to cope with a difficult and painful bereavement. I was also disappointed that despite stating in advance that I wished for family members to be involved in carrying in the coffin, this was completely overlooked on the day and my mother was unceremoniously wheeled in to the crematorium. Another issue which I was unprepared for was the fact that the minister was unwilling to lead the singing of the hymn's which meant that nobody knew when to start singing and it lead to a very embarrassing situation where the hymn had to be stopped halfway through because of the confusion. A bit of foresight on the part of the funeral director could have alerted me to this possibility. One otther point which i disliked was that the flowers id picked specificslly to be placed over the coffin as in the photo i was shown in the funetal directors broichure wete stuck at the back of tje hearse. Again, attentio to detail.was missing. All in all it was not the funeral I we would have wished for for my mum and I wouldn't recommend these funeral directors for the above reasons.
