During a very emotional and stressful time the service we received could have been better. From our initial meeting when we were previously told to bring clothes for dad, to be told in or meeting that it would be a closed coffin as he had covid on the death certificate and although they could put clothes in with him, they would not dress him and also we could not see him, only to visit a closed coffin. Also we originally booked a double slot at the crematorium as we thought we only had 20 minutes, Sabrina informed us that the slot is 40 minutes so we reduced it to one slot. It was only after dealing with Mike Cole, our celebrant, he advised us that 40 minutes is from the time you pull up outside to the time we stand outside with people paying their respects. Luckily we were able to change it to a double slot as it was upsetting to think we would have to cut short our memorial. Then on the day the cars were late and I had to phone the grays branch to find out where my dad was which was incredibly upsetting and we all ended up waiting outside his house for the cars. This then caused us to be 15 minutes late, something my dad would have hated as he didn’t like to be late for anything. I would like to mention though how wonderful Mike Cole was. He was in regular contact with us by phone and email and delivered a really lovely service for us which we are truly grateful for. We do not feel we could recommend the coop to any based on our experience considering how much money we spent.

Helpful and pleasant. The funeral director explained what would be happening and talked me through it. It went without a hitch. A simple service which was exactly what dad wanted.

  • 5 Peter Cummings 11th Jan 2022

Everything was arranged easily and in the manner that you would expect especially during a pandemic very helpfully and supportive funeral directors did a great job before and on the day of the funeral which was arranged very quickly considering limited dates and times

  • 5 Tina Inwood 31st Dec 2021

Very good kept me updated with everything

  • 5 Darren Burkey 13th Dec 2021

if it was possible we would give the team at Grays Co-op 10 stars, they are amazing - thank you

  • 5 Lynn Eaton 23rd Nov 2021

Lynne went the extra mile for my dad's direct cremation, ensuring his ashes could be placed with my mum's, even though it involved transferring dad's ashes to a different crematorium.
She was extremely helpful but also matter-of-fact, rather than over-emotional: just the right combination for the circumstances.
