My wife wanted to make her own funeral arrangements and Maria Stibbard came to our house. She was caring and thoughtful and guided us with dignity. After my wife passed her body was collected. Wendy contacted me often to offer help and to keep me updated on the order of service, musical tribute etc. The funeral went off without a hitch and I was treated with respect at all times. All of the staff were considerate at all times leaving no matters unresolved or in doubt.

The caring team at S Stibbards & Sons understand that contacting a funeral director can seem daunting, but with over 150 years experience, they are there to listen, reassure and support families at this very difficult time.

As a funeral home with family values at its heart, its focus is upon providing compassionate funeral care to families in Rayleigh, Benfleet and the surrounding area at whatever time of day or night it is needed.

When it can be hard to focus on decision-making, it is the role of their caring team to listen and support families in a reassuring space where they can focus on their loved one.

S Stibbards & Sons’ Rayleigh funeral home is a completely new site with state-of-the-art care facilities. The new funeral home and care centre is the result of 5 years of planning, 18 months of building and 156 years of experience and knowledge. prior to opening in 2023. With two chapels of rest, bespoke washing facilities, large gathering rooms which allow extended family groups to come together, and industry leading modern facilities for the care of the deceased, Weir View House is a truly inclusive and fully featured funeral home.

Whether families prefer a full traditional funeral service, or a quiet farewell tailored to their needs, funeral director Martin Stibbards and his experienced staff aim to ensure that the arrangements fulfil every family’s wishes.

Stibbards offers a fleet of modern Jaguar hearses and limousines to ensure families and their loved ones will travel in comfort, driven by their professional staff. Traditional horse-drawn hearses, vintage vehicles and other bespoke options can also be arranged.

S Stibbards & Sons is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Homes Association (SAIF) and meets the high standards set by both.

It offers Golden Charter funeral plans to those who are considering the future, while as part of its support for families, it offers in-house bereavement counselling.

    From initial contact after my husband passed away, to the conclusion of the funeral, I was impressed by the sensitivity empathy and professionalism of all the staff. My husband had wanted a small, intimate, woodland graveside funeral and his and our wishes were carried out exactly as we wanted. We were never made to feel that our wishes were too unconventional or inconvenient. I would wholeheartedly recommend Stibbards & Sons to other bereaved families.

The staff at Stibbards fully understand the extremely delicate nature of arranging and managing funerals and associated services. At no time did I have to chase or ask for clarification. Stibbards & Sons has been exceptional.  This is a devastating and very disorienting time in everyone’s life, when we encounter such deep loss and the pain is insufferable.  The wish to honour our loved ones with a fitting send off becomes extremely important and invaluable.  S. Stibbards’ personnel, guidance and clear and detailed processes made it possible for me.  To be able to arrange a send off that honoured the love of my life.  It was personal and it adhered to all my wishes.  The facilities both on site and digitally available (webcast, upload links for pictures) were fantastic.  All of my requests have been perfectly executed and it just made a difficult experience that much lighter.     From start to finish helping us make arrangements for Dad, Martin, Wendy & Janice (the main people we were dealing with) treated us with the greatest of care and attention, no question was too small and no ask too much.
    At all times we felt that Dad was treated with the ultimate dignity and care, and on the day of the funeral, the respect shown was so deeply appreciated.
