The services of a funeral director are not something that one would hope to recommend to anyone but death is part of life and we all need these things from time to time. Safe Hands were amazing - nothing was too much trouble. Their website clearly shows what services are offered and what it will cost. Penny is a lovely, friendly and empathetic person and she made a difficult time more than bearable. I would not hesitate in recommending her and her team.

The well trodden cliche ‘there simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe just how superb something is’ sums up perfectly how my family feels about Safe Hands Funeral Services in Pulborough, West Sussex. 
Penny Strachan, the Director is an utterly professional, caring and dedicated lady who exuded empathy and understanding from the moment my wife and I met her. Penny held our hands through my wife’s mothers funeral which culminated in a flawless and touching farewell service. 
When a loved one passes away, emotions are completely array and the ability to think clearly is adversely affected. Penny guided us through every aspect of what needed to be done which helped enormously in the lead up to the day of the funeral. My wife and I cannot praise Safe Hands highly enough, they are the pinnacle of excellence in every way.

I can’t begin to say how pleased I was with Safe Hands.  Penny went above and beyond in helping me arrange the funeral for my husband.  She is extremely professional and nothing I asked of her was too much trouble.  A very caring and compassionate person.

We had a service in Safe Hands’ premises - the facilities are ideal if you want a small intimate service.  Everyone who attended was also very impressed.

First and foremost, Penny is a brilliant Funeral Director.

We chose Safe Hands Funeral Services because we wanted to support a small business and we knew
that we would be provided with a very personal service from them. We have also had family friends
who only had the best to say about them when they had used their service. From the very beginning,
we were greeted with compassion and professionalism.

Penny was fantastic and respected every single increment of our tradition.
I was in touch with Penny more or less everyday since my grandmother had passed away, she was
my absolute point of call. Penny treated my family and I as if we were family. Penny made sure I was
listened to, and all our requests and wishes were carried out beautifully. The funeral that my Nana
had was absolutely everything that she had deserved. Penny made the process a lot easier. Penny
and her team are really a credit to the surrounding area.

Nothing was too much trouble, Penny, her partner Adam and the team went above and beyond for
our family. The night before the funeral, we were let down by the pub who were due to host the
wake. Penny and Adam were making phone calls to find an alternative venue for us. Unfortunately,
the alternative venue also let us down on the day of the funeral. However, Penny and her partner
worked quickly and contacted Joanna’s Boutique Tearooms who were more than happy to help.
Furthermore, Sandham Hall in Coldwaltham were also more than happy to be our venue for the
wake at such short notice, with Adam going out of his way to collect the keys to the hall, allowing
our family to get ready. Penny and Adam even helped out with teas and coffees at the wake!

On the day, it was pouring with rain and then by the time the limousines joined my beloved
grandmother, the sun came out. Our prayers were listened to. My grandmother was a dignified
Romany Gypsy woman through and through, and Penny’s ensured to reflect this. We were made to
feel at ease.


The premises do not look like a traditional Funeral Directors, it is welcoming, homely with
tranquillity. The service that Safe Hands provided far exceeded any expectation.

I have absolutely no
hesitation to recommend Safe Hands, they are very much more than just a Funeral Directors. They
will now be our family director; we were most definitely in Safe Hands.

Penny is wonderful, able to explain processes and choices really clearly. She actually listens to what you want and then has great suggestions to help make it happen, a rare professional. Warm and approachable, yet seemlessly organised and on top of things. I trusted her and her team, they did not disappoint. Her attention to detail was such a relief. She created a superb order of service booklet that was totally unique, putting a lot of time and effort into it to make sure it was as good as it could be. It was a wonderful tribute to my dad. She is hard working, thoughtful and committed to each and every client, and I found her service to represent good value for money. Having the right funeral director makes the whole thing so much more bearable. Deciding to phone Penny will be one of the best decisions you could make at this difficult time.
