Guide to Funeral Directors in Chichester

Chichester is the county town and the only city in West Sussex. Located in the South East of England, it is some 55 miles to the south-west of London. Long settled since Roman times, it is home to a medieval cathedral, many old churches and other notable architecture, including the Roman town walls which are the most complete old town defences in southern England.

There are around eight funerals directors in Chichester with several more in the surrounding area serving a population of 113,000. Six of these businesses are located within five miles of the city centre.

The last census showed that half of the population identify as Christian. However, with nearly a quarter of residents stating they are non-religious, funerals directors in Chichester are likely to have experience in arranging Humanist or secular funeral services.

Chichester council manages two cemeteries: Chichester Cemetery, on Church Road to the north east of the centre, and the cemetery at Petworth which is located about 15 miles to the north of the city. Chichester Crematorium, which is not run by the council, is on Westhampnett Road. There are two other crematoria relatively nearby, with Worthing Crematorium at Findon 19 miles away and Surrey and Sussex Crematorium 50 miles away at Crawley.

How much does a funeral cost?

The cost of a funeral depends on where you are in the UK and whether you choose a burial or a cremation. Natural burial is becoming increasingly popular, but can often be more expensive than burial in a traditional cemetery. The cost of coffins, flowers, catering and transport also varies a lot. There is also an almost unlimited list of options for personalising a service, such as professional funeral singers or a motorcycle-hearse. You can compare the price of funeral directors on Funeral Guide.

My brother died, I had no idea about funeral directors for the Portmouth area. I researched so many when somebody mentioned Moore's. From the moment I telephoned them they have acted with kindness and compassion, they have explained every detail to me and the cost was the most reasonable, with no hidden costs. I cant recommend them highly enough.

Moores traditional funeral services are a professional company that would recommend Mr Moore and his staff were outstanding in our very difficult and awkward time. Bonnie is warm, helpful and compassionate from the first phone call. Mr Moore the owner is an absolute gentlemen and very professional through out . The celebrant Mr Tommy Robinson was above and beyond our expectation , his research into the deceaseds place of work , day of birth along with information we were able pass across. Tommy read a poem that was beautifully and so fitting for the lady. Thank you so much to you all at Moore's you made a difficult day as easy as possible for us. D. Hobbs

Dave and Liddia are two very  caring people, they listen to you. They will give very good advice, they will find the best  funeral to serve your budget as best they can. I have used their services not only to set up end of life plans for clients, but also when l lost my brother. They were so supportive l cannot praise them enough. Before you make a final choice go and see them find out for yourself. A big thank you from my heart to you both.x
