Standard Simple Funeral

This is what Co-op Funeralcare offer as part of their Simple Funeral:

They will remove your loved one from their place of death into their care within a 50 mile radius
If death occurs out of normal working hours, at home or in a care home, they will remove your loved one into their care, out of hours, at no extra cost
They will prepare, care for and dress your loved one in a gown to match the interior of their Basic Coffin
Your loved one will rest in their mortuary facility, or if required, a private rest room in their funeral home
You’ll be able to visit your loved one during normal working hours at no additional charge
They will transport your loved one from the funeral home to the crematorium or burial site in a ceremonial vehicle of their choice
On the day of the funeral, a wheeled bier will be used or the family can bear the coffin
They will make all necessary arrangements for a dignified funeral
Your funeral director will be there at the funeral to support and guide you through the funeral

Under somewhat extreme conditions with a variety of family problems attached The Cooperative funeral care showed consideration, true compassion and a huge dose of understandingwhen they performed their huge task of laying my Father Ivor to rest.

As strange as this may sound, if my Father were able to have witnessed his own funeral, no doubt knowing his strong character born out his adoration of a Father of his, sadly who went down on H.M.S. REPULSE during WW2(My Father lived until his 88th birthday), my father would have looked on and said something along the lines of "this company who have arranged my funeral Father are made of the same metal as you sir".

During the ceremony my own mind drifted off to a song lyric I once wrote for my Father...."THINK OF ME WHEN I'M FAR AWAY, SOMEWHERE OVERSEAS".

Many, many, many thanks for reminding me of both my Father and Grandfather's professionalism....change nothing in the future about this company, The Cooperative Funeral Service....in my own personal view, the service went perfectly.
