We experienced this funeral directors under previous ownership when my Mother died 6 years ago. Unfortunately the service was no where near the same standard. Bev and Terry tried hard but failed to provide what was required when it came to the detail and confidence required at this trying time. When we got our first contact there was a lack of information and help that we could have required. We got no printed information other than a receipt for the likely costs. After that there a couple of weeks delay in the funeral due to a lack of cars. There was no clear understanding of the costs which we were first quoted as £3000+ which then came down to £200+ when the funeral insurance was correctly calculated. There was confusion on which church, which vicar and which crematorium and what date on several occasion that we spoke. We were never informed as to what the timings would be on the day just that there would be plenty of time for the funeral which we did know the time of. We had made it clear from the start that we wished two of the family to carry the coffin and this was agreed that this would be no problem. On the day there was only one pall bearer available and therefore the funeral director had to carry the coffin. This would not have been so bad if he had been another foot taller! All in all it was disappointing even though all went smoothly on the day. It felt as if this was more by luck than judgement. In summary the issues all seems to stem from confidence in their organisation and a lack of clear communication between the company and the client. The company added to the stress and anxiety working up to the funeral rather than helping to relieve it.

The funeral of my brother could not have been handled more respectfully. All the staff were helpful and on hand at all times should I need them I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

We knew from the moment we approached Walkden Funeral Care we were in good hands. Bev was kind, considerate and nothing was too much trouble. Terry & the staff made sure all requests were carried out without fail & helped give our mother & grandmother the funeral she wished for. Thank you

My family have dealt with Cheethams for forty-five years,  however their merging with the co-op has proven a stressful and upsetting experience for me when arranging my Father’s funeral.
I would not recommend this funeral service as their only concern is making money (showing little interest for those that only require out of respect for the departed, a funeral with little cost involved). Over several interactions with Cheethams/co-op (during and after the funeral arrangements), the treatment towards my grieving was unsatisfactory and unprofessional. My advice would be to find a funeral service that can provide a professional service and care for the feelings of those grieving.

From the organisation, order of service, streaming, photos Reverand Ruth Watson's thanksgiving service- everything was exactly as required. I can't tell you what a relief talking to the funeral director, Terry, has been, whilst I was trying to organise my best friend Philip's funeral. He anticipated our every need and gave me information in a timely and sensitive fashion. Terry accommodated our every need, at any time of the day or night and through his loved ones, got to know Philip, looking after him with the utmost care and sensitivity. I cant thank Terry enough.
