Lynn and Marion at the Great Dunmow office were welcoming and efficient and made the whole experience as pleasant as arranging a funeral can be. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we were always kept informed.

Excellent and compassionate service from the Co-operative Funeral Service.

I was very pleased with service I got from your Great Dunmow Branch. In particular was pleased with the way Anne Marie (in limousine) was so kind & helpful. The collection for donations was taken away rather quickly, however churchwardens placed a bowl for further donations. I hope this is the case with all your venues? The ladies in the office were very communicative & caring, particularly Lynne who herself is a widow, so she really empathised with me.
About Us
Chelmsford Star Co-operative Funeral Services has been helping the bereaved plan the ideal funeral for their loved ones for over 80 years. Established in 2012, the Great Dunmow branch is overseen by family liaison officers Clare Smith and Helen Morris.
Chelmsford Star offer guidance through all stages of the funeral, from planning to the day itself and beyond. They strive to meet every requirement you may have, no matter how unusual. Thanks to connections with other Co-operative branches across the country, they have access to a range of transport vehicles, including increasingly popular options such as motorcycle-hearses.
Apart from being able to help you plan the perfect funeral for your loved one, Chelmsford Star’s expert team of funeral directors also ensure you and your family are given all the support you need during this time. A free-phone helpline is available to answer your questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Chelmsford Star have also set up a network of bereavement support groups and, with the help of local doctors, care workers and clergy, can ensure you receive as much help and support as you need.
In addition to funeral planning services, Chelmsford Star offer a selection of pre-paid funeral plans, available as packaged or tailor-made plans.
To find out more about Chelmsford Star’s range of funeral planning options, give them a call to discuss your funeral requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you arrange a funeral?
You can arrange a funeral by choosing a funeral director who will help you organise all of the details. They can help you decide whether to have a cremation or burial and what type of service to choose, as well as additional options, such as music and flowers. You can find out what happens at a funeral and compare funeral directors on Funeral Guide.
Read moreWhat are disbursements?
Disbursements are additional costs for a funeral service that are paid to third-parties, such as florists, celebrants and burial fees. The funeral director will usually charge you for them and then pay the suppliers themselves.
Read moreHow can I get help with funeral costs?
If the cost of a funeral is not covered by a prepaid funeral plan, or the estate of the person who has died, you may be able to get financial help from the government’s Bereavement Support Payment or from War Disablement Pensions, charitable funds or budgeting loans.
