With the help from Ben Bassett and his team my Husband’s funeral went perfectly. Ben helped me from the beginning to the end and guided me through the arrangements so professionally.With his help and expertise my family and myself were able to say Goodbye to my Husband ,Dad and Paps to his Grandchildren exactly the way we imagined. Having confirmed the day and time for our Mother's funeral we informed everybody so that they could make travel plans including booking international flights. This was on a Friday. By Monday we received a call to say that the Church could not do the original 3 pm booking, could we make it 11.30 in the morning.
Fortunately by now we were in direct contact with the Church who were very helpful and they said actually they never could have done 3 pm as there was no Minister available. Also 11.30 was a bit late for them as they had a Ministers meeting immediately afterwards and would not want to feel that we were being rushed. They could manage any time in the morning, so we agree on 11.00 am.
Having agreed a new time, we now had to send out another round of messages to everyone with the new time.
A few days after this the Co-op came back and said they could actually do the Thursday or possibly Wednesday the week after as they hadn't got enough staff locally.
At which point my daughter said, well if you want to reimburse us for a flight from Los Angeles, two from Ireland and one from France that's up to you. After referring the matter to higher Co-op management they decided to bring in staff from other branch for the 11 am appointment.

A second much less important point is the website. We wished to order some printed order of services and were referred to the Co-op website. https://www.coop.co.uk/funeralcare/funeral-stationery

The lady at the Co-op said we could select different layouts online and submit what we wanted. However the website seemed to continuously go round in a loop. I asked other people to look at it it and they thought the same. Eventually asked my daughter who is IT savvy and she found it under "ebook" not Order of service. To old people and ebook is some fancy electronic thing, when what we wanted was a printed peace of paper. Please bear in mind your likely customer based when letting the techies loose. It was an just another added frustration we could have done without after all the other issues.

On the plus side, I would like to say that the staff were very polite and helpful and were doing there best, in what were obviously very difficult circumstances and I would like to thank the for all there efforts. In the end it all worked out OK.

However, form an outsiders point of view it does seem that the local branch was short of staff and that the management at Co-op needs a bit of a shake up.

Incredibly professional yet totally empathetic staff. Ben our funeral director couldn’t have done more for us checking in regularly to keep us informed and to see how things were with us.

The service my sisters and I received was second to none. The care, empathy, kindness and patience given by your staff was was so lovely, it made what was a sad time so much easier to sort out.
