In 2003, the Cotmanhay branch joined A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service. Before then, it was the headquarters of the Ilkeston Co-op Funeral Service, which opened in 1979.
Bennerley House, the beautiful building where the funeral home is located, originally belonged to a local carpenters and includes a reception area, family rooms, visitation rooms, cold room facilities and garaging for part of our fleet of Rolls Royce hearses and limousines.
Mick Schofield is the funeral director responsible for this office and is assisted by funeral arranger Nikki Anderson.
The opening times are from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, but you can call at any time on the telephone number to arrange an appointment – you will then be able to arrange a meeting at your convenience.
The branch covers all of Cotmanhay and its surrounding area, including Awsworth, Cossall, Eastwood, Heanor, Langley Mill, Loscoe, Shipley, Smalley, Stanley, West Hallam and further afield.
A W Lymn The Family Funeral Service was founded in 1907 and is now managed by Nigel, Matthew and Jackie Lymn Rose.

From start to finish everything was perfect and to a very high standard. Nothing was too much trouble. We were supported and dealt with in a professional, friendly manner.
The deceased, was treated with dignity and respect.
Tracey, the celebrant suggested by Mick at Lymns, was excellent. Very caring and thoughtful. We felt comfortable with her from the start.
I would definitely recommend AW Lymn.

We entrusted our son Desmond into the care of your company. From the minute he left our house with Wayne and Rebecca who handled the whole situation with sensitivity and respect. We immediately felt that he would be in safe hands. I will be forever grateful to Michelle Ibbett for her kindness, empathy and understanding, we had no idea about the.process of funerals and she explained everything in detail to us, sometimes several times as we weren't taking things in and couldn't believe our beloved son had died.We were supported by her to visit him as many times as we wanted, made to feel comfortable, offered tea and a genuine listening ear. Her professionalism and organizational skills were evident on the day of his funeral. Making it a beautiful stress fee final journey.
Mick was a credit to his profession, ensuring everything ran smoothly a really lovely gentleman. Thank you all

I just wanted to put into words how grateful we were for the wonderful funeral service which AW Lymn provided for my Mum. Everything went so smoothly from beginning to end.
We didn't know anything about A W Lymn before Mum passed away, other than the fact that there was an office near where she lived, and we relied on Google to make the decision about which funeral director to use. We are so glad that we made the right decision!
When my Mum passed away the thoughts of arranging her funeral were daunting, to say the least. However, Michelle at the Cotmanhay office, Richard the Civil Celebrant and Mick, who led the proceedings on the day, guided us through the process, not only professionally, but also with care and compassion. Thank you so much.

From the first time I contacted you the process was very smooth, nothing was too much trouble, and everything was explained to me.
On the day of the funeral, which ran very smoothly, everyone was very nice and explained how the funeral would go.
Family and friends who attended said how very impressed they were and how nice the service was.

I had to deal with a sudden bereavement as the only next of kin.
Michelle was fantastic- supportive, compassionate and professional from the first phone call in the midst of the initial crisis. She kept things moving but always had time to talk- a rare skill.
I would highly recommend her and the team at Cotmanhay. Nothing was too much trouble. They understand the emotional aspects of a bereavement but also hold your hand through the practicalities from organising the funeral to signposting how to register the death and what happens next.

Selina looked beautiful and the room was lovely where we could visit her.
