From moment of first contact with James, and considering the circumstances, the experience was 'pleasant '.The service provided was very professional, James explained the procedure in detail and there was no problem accommodating my late father's wishes. James and his colleagues were professional, courteous gentlemen and my family feel that everything went as scheduled, even though an unexpected post mortem had to be taken. Would highly recommend and would be happy to use again (but not too soon). Thank you James.

James and Emma helped us arrange Richard's funeral in a short space of time.
Richard wanted a humanist ceremony and a tree to be planted on his grave.
James arranged for a non religious ceremony which was a celebration of Richard's life to take place in the methodist church. He also arranged for a wake with catering and a pop up bar in the town hall in the afternoon after Richard was buried at a private ceremony at the woodland burial site at Hope. Richard had decided before he passed away that he wanted to be buried at Hope and it was great that he got what he wanted. James was very helpful from the start . The day went very well from start to finish thanks to James and his team.

Any questions I had were answered promptly and they were always at the end of the phone, even just for a chat. I’d never experienced planning a funeral but James made it a less scary experience. We had to arrange a funeral for my mother in law was totaly stuck on what to do we phoned Mr howe up and his mannerism
towards us was outstanding he was always informing us as to what will happen on the day so that we didnt miss anything out...he did a marvelous job would recommend to everyone.

I have used James & Emma for both my parents’ funerals, my mum’s during Covid. I cannot fault the service they provided, being professional and empathetic especially during the tough restrictions in place during the pandemic. They made the process of saying goodbye to a loved one seamless and I would highly recommend them.

I’m not usually a fan of leaving reviews for anything but it has to be done on this occasion because the care & compassion shown from everyone at J.T.Howe was unbelievable. My husband passed away at home suddenly & was taken to Chesterfeild hospital by another undertaker. The undertaker that took my husband was called by the ambulance as I was really upset. I wasn’t happy with they way collected my husband & was concerned that I would have to use them for my husbands funeral. It was only after calling James late that night he reassured me that I could use a different funeral director for the funeral. I’m so glad l chose them because they went the extra mile from start to finish & I am planning to take a funeral plan out with them in near future.

I can’t thank Emma at J.T.Howe enough, at a time when I has no clue what to do and felt so lost she was there every step of the way. 
We wanted a local family company to look after things as family is so important to us and that’s what we got, a family who cared for out family. 
Nothing was too much trouble even though the funeral needed to be in Buxton then chesterfield.

I don’t usually do reviews but on this occasion I feel like all of the team at J T Howe Funeral Directors deserve praise and appreciation. When we lost my sister it was the hardest thing we have ever faced but from the very first contact with James he made us feel so at ease. Sadly my sister passed away at home and James was there within 45 minutes even though we live in Stockport. The care for my sister and my family was unbelievable and once again thank you. We were on a tight budget and we found James prices very reasonable and we felt we got way more than we paid for. 




Very highly recommended.

From the moment that James answered the phone in my time of sadness, through all the arranging of my dads funeral, it was exemplary, the service that I was given, his attention to detail was phenomenal and I felt so very at ease, even though my world had seemed to stand still with grieve.  I could not have got through this process I think without all the help and advice that he gave to me.  A truly lovely gentleman and a credit to his profession.

Everyone involved made everything so easy for us. From the first contact to the funeral itself, nothing was too much trouble for the staff looking after us and my late husband. They took so much stress off of my shoulders allowing me to look after my family and friends and focus on providing a beautiful and worthy send off for my late husband. James was sympathetic, professional and nothing was to much trouble.You could contact him day or night and he was always happy to help. James phoned my mum to check if she was alright a few weeks after the funeral. He runs a business with personal touches and showed respect to everyone, even my dad. We would highly recommend James.

James and Emma were extremely helpful in making the necessary arrangements for the internment of Alice Birnie's ashes, in particular as we live in Spalding Lincolnshire and the event took place in Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak District. The communication leading up to the service and internment was outstanding, as was their physical presence and support during the church service and the laying of the ashes.

We would absolutely recommend JT Howe Funeral Directors to anyone who wants the comfort and reassurance that all of the arrangements and wishes of those involved, are not only considered but met to the highest standard.
