This is what Co-op Funeralcare offer as part of their Simple Funeral:

They will remove your loved one from their place of death into their care within a 50 mile radius
If death occurs out of normal working hours, at home or in a care home, they will remove your loved one into their care, out of hours, at no extra cost
They will prepare, care for and dress your loved one in a gown to match the interior of their Basic Coffin
Your loved one will rest in their mortuary facility, or if required, a private rest room in their funeral home
You’ll be able to visit your loved one during normal working hours at no additional charge
They will transport your loved one from the funeral home to the crematorium or burial site in a ceremonial vehicle of their choice
On the day of the funeral, a wheeled bier will be used or the family can bear the coffin
They will make all necessary arrangements for a dignified funeral
Your funeral director will be there at the funeral to support and guide you through the funeral

Although such a sad occasion, the service provided by the Co-op Funeralcare, Chester-le-Street, regarding my late father’s funeral, was perfect from the beginning to the end. The Funeral Director, Phil Wymer, was very professional, knowledgeable, polite, sympathetic and compassionate and he dealt with the funeral arrangements with such care and attention to detail. On the day of the funeral, Phil and his colleagues showed my late father the utmost of respect, honor and dignity, something which was commented upon by those mourners who had attended the service. Thank you Phil and thank you to all of your colleagues at the Co-op Funeralcare, Chester-le-Street for taking care of my late father on his final journey. Excellent service from begining to end. The funeral director Kathryn was brilliant, offering guidance when needed and giving space too, when that was needed. Everyone at the Co-Op was very couteous, caring and practical. Our loved one was treated with respect and dignity, and Durham Crematorium was very good too. The Co-Op also organized a brilliant celebrant, Hillary, to lead the service. Everything was perfect and exactly as we requested.

As it was a direct cremation I felt as though they didn't care. I was given a date for my dad's cremation with an assurance they would be in contact before hand, there was no contact.
The lady I delt with in the beginning promised to forward some information I asked for but never did. It felt as though more money needed to be spent to get a kindly service. When my mam died during covid we had the traditional service and they couldn't have been better, I was very impressed. Its a shame that money equals kindness.

Co-op team who looked after Alan whilst he was in their care. We were kept informed every step of the way which we really appreciated. Kathryn was very efficient and highly empathic. Carol was also very efficient, kind and concerned about getting details correct concerning a bill we were querying.
