I first met Stuart when I joined Ivybridge Town Council in September 2001 but when my colleague suddenly became unwell and went on long term sick leave and then retired in 2007 I found myself in the Finance Officer role. Stuart basically trained me from scratch. He was patient and gave advice, support and encouragement. Stuart was always willing to help even when we lost some accounts data (before the days of Citrix). It has been an absolute pleasure working with him and I will miss his visits, even the zoom calls through Covid. I don't have the words to explain how invaluable Stuart's support has been to me since 2007. I will miss not being able to email or call for advice. Year End's just won't be the same. Thank you Stuart! My heart goes out to Jan and all the family.

I have known and worked with Stuart at Calne Town Council for over twenty years. During this time Stuart has provided endless accounting support and advice and was a great help in resolving any accounting issues I may have had. His knowledge of the software was vast and inspiring. Nothing was ever too much trouble. He would put himself out to resolve any issues or queries and his quick wit and sense of humour was priceless. I will really miss you Stuart and am so very grateful for all the help and advice you have provided over the many years of us working together. RIP and god bless. Thinking of Jan and family at this very sad time.

Dear Jan and Family thinking of you all.
Stuart was so kind, patient and simply the best at passing his knowledge of local council accounts to Clerks and RFO’s. RBS was his “baby” and he will always be remembered for being its founder.

To Jan and all the family. Stuart was an inspiration and a leader in our sector and like many others I am very grateful for his foresight in this field. He, like Jan, was always helpful and thoughtful in the way he approached working with Councils and listening to individual needs. I remember Bicester being a guinea pig for the then new cemetery software and all the issues it raised about sections within the cemetery and types of burials but Stuart was so determined to and did get it right for us - its still being used to this day. Sending condolences to all the family for this lovely man who will always be remembered in high esteem in the local council family.

I will forever be indebted to Stuart for the help and support he gave me. Over the 12 years that I knew him, he helped unravel the complexities of the world that is finance. He did it in such a way that he didn't make you feel stupid or inadequate.
It wasn't long before we gelled. I am not sure how many people can truly say that they looked forward to a visit from their accountant but we truly did. His passing has left a massive hole. The passing of a professional and a friend. Stuart you will be forever missed.

Stu taught me everything when I started my job with the Council. I would ask loads of (sometimes silly) questions, but Stu would always explain things at my level to make sure I understood. When I made mistakes and panicked, Stu always had my back, told me not to worry, and showed me how to put things right. He had a great sense of humour and the best patience. Rest in peace, Stu. I will miss you and will think of you, especially when I’m stuck!

Dear Jan and family,
I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Stuart, who will be sadly missed by so many people.
I will always remember his kindness, understanding and the support he gave me over the years, how smart he always was and the smile on his face when I asked for another pen to play my games on the iPad at the conferences.

I will be lighting a candle on the 5th February and thinking of you all as you say your last goodbyes.

I know he will always be in my thoughts as a very kind, gentleman. Now he is with Nigel having a good old natter.

Both myself and Vision send our deepest condolences.
