Jan died at home, peacefully in her sleep, on 22nd April 2023.
She had fought against cancer, so bravely, for twelve years. From being such a strong and active person, that awful disease just slowly wore her down. She made her last adventurous journey round her beloved India in late 2018, and after that settled into a progressively more gentle life. With a bit of extra care from Tony, Jan could even enjoy a cruise round Iceland just a few weeks ago. But on returning home, her body simply started to close down, and she even said that she was happy to go on her last day.
Jan was an extraordinary woman. She was the most wonderful wife to Tony for 46 years, and was always the most fabulous mother to Simon, Jonathan and Richard. She was kind, thoughtful, smart, classy, lovely
and talented – a brilliant writer and the best travelling companion ever.
Everyone loved Jan, none more so than her husband Tony. The world is a lesser place without her.
