Neil Whyld (19 Jun 1940 - 13 Apr 2023)

Neil Whyld sadly passed away from a short, unexpected illness on the 13th April 2023, aged 82.
Neil was born in Nottingham in 1940. He attended Mundella Grammar School before taking a 5 year apprenticeship in 1956 at Ericsson Telephone Ltd in Nottingham. He later joined IBM, fixing and maintaining the early advent of mainframe computer systems and data networks, with notable time spent living and working for IBM in Saudi Arabia in the early 1970's. He continued his IBM professional career back in the UK before launching a successful network distribution business before retiring.
Neil had a wide range of passions, including his support for Notts County and engaged in several social societies that brought great lasting friendships. He particularly loved golf and has been a member of Erewash Valley Golf Club for decades, contributing to the organising and arranging of social events including his last engagements with the Seniors.
Neil is survived by his loving wife Bobbie, his son John, daughter Sarah and granddaughter Lauren.
All will sadly miss his humour, kindness and compassion.
