About Us
Established in 1952, George Brooke funeral directors offer compassionate funeral planning services to the North Kirklees area, including Dewsbury, Batley, Mirfield, Cleckheaton and Ossett. The office is open all week and 9am-2.30pm on Saturday.
A family-run and owned business, the George Brooke team promises to take the time to listen to a family’s requirements. Helen and Judith Brooke pride themselves on giving the bereaved help with all their needs during a difficult time, allowing them to plan the ideal bespoke funeral for their loved one.
George Brooke funeral directors work with families from all religious backgrounds and can cater to faith-specific needs, such as dedicated washing facilities for Hindu and Sikh families. They also have civil celebrants and humanist officiants for non-religious funeral services.
A chapel of rest is available for use at both the Dewsbury and Mirfield premises, as well as an area for holding funeral teas following ceremonies. George Brooke can also offer a hearse and three funeral vehicles for hire.
What Families Say
AI SummaryMany families describe feeling supported throughout the funeral arrangements and funeral day itself, often mentioning how staff addressed their worries promptly and made a difficult time more bearable. Several note that communication was clear and regular, with staff keeping them informed at every stage and remaining available to answer questions by phone or in person.
Families frequently praise the care and respect shown to their loved one both before and during the service, and comment on how the staff managed small personal details—from choices about flowers and music to special touches during the ceremony itself—with attention and compassion. Many also highlight that nothing was too much trouble for staff, whether handling last-minute requests or liaising with other services.
A number of reviews mention the professionalism and organisation of the funeral day, with families noting that services ran smoothly and according to their wishes, which was a comfort during an emotional time.

This was the most special funeral you could imagine from James and the other people letting us have smoke cannons and glitter bombs to being so supportive for all our family especially my grandsons who lost their mum. Simon did an absolutely fantastic service the whole crowd said it wad the best and funniest service they had attended. Thank you for making a terrible day so special.
