About Us

Founded by John Bettles (former Chief Executive of the Cardiff YMCA and Cardiff YMCA Housing Association) in April 1997, Green Willow Funerals is a social enterprise that, for over 25 years, continues to provide a high-standard of service for bereaved families and the best quality of care of their loved ones across South-East Wales.

The Funeral Home in Heath, Cardiff was opened in 1999 and is the second of the three fully-operational branches to open, following the first Home in Newport, which opened a couple of years prior in 1997. Since inception, Green Willow Funerals has helped thousands of families across the region, providing funeral services with dignity, compassion and respect.

Whether a simple funeral or a more elaborate and bespoke service is requested, the Green Willow Funerals team of professional, qualified staff are very accommodating to the needs of the client and the wishes of your loved ones. Options offered include an unattended White Willow Direct Cremation and White Willow Direct Cremation Bespoke, the Bespoke includes the option to personalise/customise. Green Willow Funerals also offer Traditional Funerals, which allow specific aspects of the service to be fully tailored to the client's request, such as viewings, coffin type, material, style etc. and also a black hearse and limousines. They also offer a 'Virtual' White Willow Direct Cremation, this is a Direct Cremation (unattended) with a digital film of the ceremony.

As members of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), each Green Willow Funeral Home operates and abides by the standards and quality set out by the Association. Additionally, Green Willow Funerals are proud to be founder members of the Association of Green Funeral Directors and they are registered with the Funeral Arbitration Scheme (FAS), so Green Willow can perform Environmental Funerals, which are more eco-friendly options and include woodland burials and the use of more environmentally-friendly coffins or urns to help lower the carbon footprint and therefore minimise the environmental impact involved in the funeral service.
