Our Matriarch

You are the heart of our family
The glue that holds us together
The hole you have left cannot be filled
But the joyful memories will live forever

Our ‘do’s’ won’t quite be the same
Without your loving smile
But rest assured we’ll raise a glass
And remember you all the while

Every Birthday we’ll sing sto lat
Every Wigilia eat pierogi all day
Every Easter a swiecone basket
Every Names Day a hip hip hurray

You lost your dear Tolek so young
The man you loved all your life
Now you can snuggle together for eternity
Reunited as husband and wife

You leave behind 3 loving daughters
And 7 grandchildren dear
With 13 treasured great grandchildren
Who you always held so near

You believed in God so deeply
And we know he is by your side
You’ll be praying for us from heaven
Whilst beaming with joy and pride

Now there will be no more tears
Your memory will never die
Your spirit will live on through us
As you watch us from the sky

Sleep peacefully in God’s hands
In our hearts you will remain
Dobranoc Babcia…. we’ll miss you
Until we meet again ❤️xx

The big heart that produced so many fantastic Polish meals from that little kitchen. The big heart that always included us as part of her family. The big heart that always had a smile and a welcome for everyone. You will always be part of our lives.

Dear Liz and family, both Horst and myself were so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother. She was an incredible lady, whom I often spoke to on the bus going into Nottingham,.

My heart goes out to both you and your twin sister…., losing a parent, is always hard…i know that you lost your father early, but at least I had the privilege of meeting him….I just want you to know, that you are in my prayers. Be brave hon, as your mother’s funeral is the last act of love, which you can do for her… God Bless, my lovely xxxx

Hercia was a respected and well liked member of the Polish community with a sharp wit and sense of humour. At various gatherings she always had a few jokes to tell, a poem to recite or a story with a great punchline. Hercia was wise and kind and so young at heart. Her girls are a credit to her and as it has already been mentioned Hercia was the glue which kept the family together. Girls, keep that beautiful tradition up in memory of your wonderful mother.
