Biography

Diana was born in Bakewell, Derbyshire on 30th September 1942 to Malcolm and Janet Dykes Spratt.

Diana was a very talented child and showed great promise in ballet. She was educated at St George the Martyr infants school in Queens Square, Bloomsbury and then at Argyle primary school near Kings Cross. She passed her 11+ and won a scholarship to Christ's Hospital, Hertford.

After finishing her O-levels Diana returned to London and gained A-levels in French, German and Latin at Greycoat school, Victoria and gained grade 6 in Piano.

After leaving school Diana decided to go to secretarial college and studied shorthand and typing. She had several jobs as a secretary including working as a medical secretary in the geriatric wing of Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, Kent. She also trained as a social worker but later decided not to pursue this as a career.

Diana had one child, Anna. Sadly, Anna died in 2003.

Thanks are due to Diana's brother Adrian for providing details of Diana's early life.

Doubted we both our earthly roles
Was it ever thus?
But another realm awaits our souls
Where we can just be us.

Needs not words, a heartbeat, sigh or cry
For a peace serene and true
Just the yonder world in which you lie
Where you can just be you.
