I have been friends with kathy for over 20 years when I first worked with her at fairview school
She was an inspirational teacher and a very good friend. We had a lot of fun times together and she was a good friend to my children as well, hoping with them with their maths homework which I was hopeless at.
I will miss her greatly but will always be thankful for the friendship and support she gave me

I first met Kathy when we were both teaching at Fairview. She was a great teacher who was at her happiest when she was in the classroom with the children. She spent endless hours planning lessons that would be fun as well as educational. Her love of music and the creative arts shone through to inspire the children in singing and dancing. She played a huge part in orchestrating the end of year plays which were loved by parents and children alike. She would occasionally bring her guitar into school and the whole year group would enjoy a singing session - a great stress reliever after the exam season.
After we both retired we continued our friendship and I am so sorry to have lost such a good friend

I had known Kathy for many years since she was about 5 years old and remember these years with great fondness. She was enthusiastic, ebullient and up to all sorts of childhood escapades, of which some, when found out, used to get us both into a lot of trouble with our parents.

After she married and had her family we lost touch for a while but reconnected when she was living in Seaview Road, and from then on continued our friendship, which lasted until her sudden death.

Kathy didn't have an easy life, losing her mum at the age of 15 and then latterly her beloved husband Mick & son, Paul. Latterly she had been in constant pain but never complained, which was a testament to her strength of will.

She was such a great part of my life and I will always remember her at her happiest when she was singing and dancing and just so full of life, which is when her true personality shone through.

I hope she is at peace now, and know that my life will be greatly impoverished without her in it.

My sincere condolences go out to Mark & his family.
