In loving memory of David Owen O'Neill who sadly passed away on 9th December 2021

David was born in RotherHithe and was brought up in Surrey. With his three brothers and his six sisters. David spent many years in care whilst growing up.

In a small Kingston bingo hall 1979 he met wife Michelle. And they moved to the Isle Of Sheppey were married on 05.07.1980 and have been married ever since.

On 19th of August 1981 Michelle gave birth to David’s first son Colin. Two years later on 16th February 1983 she gave birth to Davids second son Keith. Then after three years on 10th November 1986 michelle gave birth to his final child Tracey.

They settled for 12 years at Prince Charles Avenue where David set up a fishing club with his long time friends Francis And Bernie. Whilst he was living there he also joins in the CB radio club which aided in the find of a local lost child. It was soon after this that Jill Wood, her husband Lez and David sat down began to form what is now known as the Event Marshalling Unit Sheppey.

They then moved to Cranford Middlesex for two years. Whilst he lived there he done voluntary work with his wife Michelle.

After two years away they moved back to the island and lived at Jefferson road. They then moved to new street and finally they settled at Delamark road for 16 years.

Whilst they lived on the island David worked as a bingo caller at the bingo hall. Later when he left he worked at Turners frozen food where he injurd his back. After that he started doing truck driving with Francis. And then finally he worked at the sheerness dockyard driving the new cars off the boats.

It was at Delamark road where David’s first Grandson on 08.06.1999 James was born. After 6 months David and Michelle took James in and he lived with them ever since. Also whilst living here the rest of his 9 grandchildren where born. Shannon 10.05.2000, Kristian 09.06.2001. Then when Colin Married his wife, David had a new granddaughter Danielle 09.08.1998. After this Rachel 22.01.2003, Adam 29.12.2003, Bradley 30.07.2005, Tommy 24.07.2013 and Callum 03.03.2014 was born.

Throughout his life he had many people referring to him as dad or grandad as a sign of respect and endearment; this was because he made such an impact on their lives.

In may 2015 they moved from Delamark and moved to Kent avenue where David spent the rest of his days. He also had 5 great-grandchildren by time of passing. Malachi, Leela-Louise, Freddie, Hunter and Reggie.

Whilst David was alive he battled with pancreatitis, diabetes, a triple heart bypass, COPD and finally cancer twice. In the end it took a combination of multiple of these to finally stop him fighting.

Finally David past just a Mere hour after his wife left the hospital not wanting her to see him go. In the end David will be put to rest in the same church that he married Michelle in, as well as, where they had there blessing 05.07.2005.

David will be remembered by his loving wife, his caring children, his adoring grandchildren and his heartfelt great-grandchildren and the thousands of friends that he impacted upon on his 35+ years of volunteer work.

RIP David, I know we’ve only met the once but you and Michelle have been so welcoming and kind to me, and you both come across as really lovely and caring people, and the messages that have been posted from family and friends really show how much you were loved and are going to be missed. Although we shared a mum, our paths had never crossed until fairly recently (after much researching) however I am very proud to have you as a family member and hope that you Rest In Peace, in the knowledge that you have also made a real difference to peoples lives though your volunteering too. With love x

David always said hi when I came into the room and was one of first new friends on Mybingo who helped me send for sides when I couldn't figure out how to. Every time I go into a room now I expect to hear him say hi like he always did.I have known David 11 years now and he welcomed me to bingo like we were already friends from day one. He is truely missed. My condolences goes out to Michelle, all of David's family and friends. Just remember all the good times and memories and he won't seem so far away. He is looing down and watching over all of you. R.I.P David.
