I had the pleasure of knowing Cyril since 1975. A snooker opponent early on and after a casual comment about my phone being in the hall and I would prefer it in the lounge he turned up the next day to fix. Typical of Cyril, always ready to help people. He didn’t suffer fools gladly mind you knew straight away if he wasn’t happy. A good friend and colleague (Albury Manor) of mine received a bottle of whisky from him. It was a school trip that Henry Arnold had supervised. Cyril simply said “you deserve this after looking after Richard for a week” (sorry Richard) . I think this helps describe his character , certainly a unique man and a good friend. I shall certainly miss his friendly comments and terrible jokes. RIP
