In loving memory of John David Fever who sadly passed away on 8th October 2021

What can I say? My dad my hero was born in Crayford in 1944 to Olive and William. He was an only child with devoted parents and enjoyed a range of activities the boys brigade being one. But he had a passion for football. He grew up in slade green and we often refer to him as Johnny from the Green which always brought a smile to his face. From what I can tell dad had a bit of swagger and was always very sociable. He loved music especially the 1960’s era and you would always hear him whistling away. He met my mum Susan Hoadley and I’m sure many of you will have a story to share of this time. They had many friends some still with us today and sadly some no longer. In 1973 along came me I was so luckily adopted by two wonderful parents and had the most amazing childhood. Dad was my taxi in my young days dropping and picking me up from brownies, gym swimming and much more. I was a daddy’s girl! A few years later along came Suzanne our family was complete. Dad had many fun times on holiday with various friends and he enjoyed a good social life. He worked in various places from Vox to the HSBC and later on at a retirement place. His first granddaughter came along in 2000 Jessica. Dad was an instant amazing Grampy. You would often find him crawling on the floor with an active toddler on his back. Then in 2008 came his second granddaughter isabelle. Again the bond between these two was unbreakable. He would be bossed around all day by Izzy and spent hours colouring with her. Sadly in 2010 we lost my mum and life changed. The last 11 years we’ve been a team and we’ve looked after each other. The last two years sadly dad suffered greatly will illness and disability. Even on the rough days he could still crack a joke and make me smile. Then the time came where it just got too much and he could take no more. He grew is angel wings on the 8 October and a part of me flew with him.

Please share a memory, a photo and remember my dad the one and only John!!!!

If you could let me know ASAP if you are able to attend the funeral as I have much to organise.

Many thanks
Joanne and family xxx

Fondest memories of such a lovely man. His cheeky one liners just made us laugh & smile. It was such a pleasure to meet with John from Slade Green and Chris at the Yacht for a bite to eat. John then met up with Bob and friends at Bamboo Garden Chinese, their staff grew so fond of John making sure he had his favourites chicken wings, rum & raisin ice cream & a handful of imperial mints to take home. John always spoke about his love for his late wife and family so rest in peace John you was a very special lovable man. Love from Bob & Sue xxxxx

Rest in peace now John and join your beloved wife
forever with love xx

  • Thank you for your lovely words. I’m glad I know what his favourite food was at the bamboo. Every time I asked what he’d have he’d say “no idea Bob ordered it but it was lovely” 😂. Jo x

John was the friendliest gentleman I ever met. He used to talk to strangers all the time. Not only did he talk to strangers but after a few minutes you could tell that they all loved him. I took him to PC world in Crayford once. I can't remember what he needed but he wasn't great with tech and didn't understand anything. We got help by the assistant and after a couple of winks and jokes they were best of friends laughing and messing around and even hugging! Completely mutually of course.
I'll never forget that.
