Margaret was born Patricia Margaret Flury in Billericay on 2nd April 1936.

She was evacuated to stay with her mother’s family in Gateshead during the war and then returned to live in Fleming Avenue, Leigh-on-Sea and attended Westleigh Junior School and then St Bernards.

After working in London, she found a job at Shell Haven Refinery and it was there she met her husband of 62 years, Barry Veater.

She lived in Hadleigh all her married life, with Barry, her two daughters, Jacqueline and Michelle, and a succession of much-loved border collies.

She suffered for more than five years with Alzheimer’s until she died on 13th October 2021.

Margaret, Our dear neighbour and friend for nearly 30 years, we will miss our chats over the garden fence. We will remember her love for flowers and the hours she spent walking the dogs on Hadleigh downs. God bless.
Love Sean, Julie, Amy, Alice and Christopher

We are very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Please accept our sincerest condolences, We had the privilege of meeting her while you were still living here in Okinawa, and we are glad that we had that chance. I am sure you have a multitude of happy memories to give you a strong sense of wanting to give thanks for her life.

Happy memories of walking with Margaret and Midge, often with coffee and cake afterwards and admiring Barry’s garden.
