Brian Maurice Sharp (Passed away 15 Aug 2021)

Rest in peace uncle Brian

Brian was a much loved volunteer at Tools for Self Reliance over many years. He always enjoyed being in the workshop around the tools and being able to have a good old natter with his fellow volunteers and our staff team. Brian's good nature and humour shone through and brightened the day. He will be much missed by us all. Our love and condolences go out to Brian's family. Sarah and all at Tools for Self Reliance.

John and I enjoyed meeting Brian and found him very friendly and entertainig

Brian was always the entertainer, whenever he and Alma used to come for Sunday lunch at mum's house (Carole) he used to enjoy putting sweets in his glasses much to the enjoyment of our daughter Lauren she would sit and laugh with him all afternoon. He was such a lovely sweet man who will be missed by us all.

The world could do with more people like Brian. Always a job well done!

Brian was always welcoming and very happy when telling jokes. He had good stories to tell too, so was very entertaining & interesting..
He was an expert at any DIY job and did major work in his home until recently.

I think Brian was a one off in many ways, we became friends through my friendship with Alma, 33 years to date. You couldn’t get two more different men than Brian & George but amazingly they got on very well when we met up for dinners, walks etc If George didn’t know anything about the Queen Mary, he certainly does now!! He also did many jobs for us & was often found under floor boards, electric heaters etc no job was refused. One of my memories of Brian was his humour & especially when I rang the bell he would appear with grapes in his eyes or a banana would appear before he did!! Silly I know but funny at the time! We will miss him.

You couldn’t bare seeing us cry snd would always make a joke to try and cheer us up
You were horrified when at the age of 20 Paul and I asked if we could get married. After the shock you were nothing but supportive and so proud (or were you relieved) when you gave me away on the 2.11.1985
You were always there to take us to brownies or gymnastics and pick us up from youth club. You carried this tradition on with your grandchildren.
You were always in your overalls. always at your happiest pottering In The garage or tinkering with your motor bike
You were the most Christian un-religious man I know

It's hard to believe that Brian has passed. Hard to believe that he won't be there to do those little jobs that he loved to do. You could see the joy on his face when he was asked to help with even the smallest task. If you wanted it quickly Brian wasn't necessarily your man but if you wanted a good job you learnt to be patient.

I knew Brian for 40 years. After roughly 5 years, on our wedding day, he proclaimed that I could now call him Brian. A momentous day... I had things that I should have said to him but hadn't, things that I wanted him to hear; my appreciation for all the things that he did for us. His support, guidance, wisdom and friendship. Things that went beyond the Father-in-law, son-in-law relationship. In many ways he was a stand in Father figure who guided me on many matters. Everything I know about fixing cars etc I learnt form him.

Brian, you leave a big hole in our lives and in our hearts but you will always be in our memories.

My Dad was an old fashioned gentleman with a dry, quick humour and quick temper too! He loved working with his hands, with precision and very high standards. He loved the Goons, Jim Reeves and Country music. He got me up to watch the first moon landing in 1969, tried to teach me how to use a slide rule (failed miserably 🙄) and change a plug (mastered that! 😁). I learned to get up early for my paper round with him and to turn the light off when he closed the garage doors at night. He looked after my boys after school when needed and gave them a sense of purpose.
A good Father and a good man. Thanks for everything
