This page is In loving memory of Joan Violet Thornton who sadly passed away on 17th July 2021, aged 78 years.
After a short illness our lovely mum fell asleep for the last time on 17th July. We are all deeply saddened by her passing and know she will be sadly missed not only by us, but friends and relatives too. We know that Joan was loved by many for her generous, warm nature as well as her sense of humour and spirit. She was a loyal and loving friend, colleague, sister. Aunt, Cousin, Mum and Nana!
Joan’s service will be held on Wednesday 18th August at the Medway Crematorium at 1pm. Anyone is welcome to attend or please come to her home to see her off at 12.30 if you cannot make the service.
Flowers may be sent c/o John Weir Funeral Directors, Rainham by 11:00 am on the day of Joan's service

A very sad loss of a wonderful lady, never one to mix her words, you would get the total honest straight up truth from Joan! She was such a strong independent lady and extremely spirited but with a heart of gold! Our love and condolences go out to Julie, Daniel and families. RIP Joan, you will be greatly missed! Nicola & Chris xxx

I worked with Joan for 9 years and after a very short time realised she was such a character. We often met for coffee and would put the world to rights , having a good laugh along the way. Joan always talked about her family, who she loved dearly, especially Ava, the apple of her eye. I will miss Joan greatly. To all Joans family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss.

Dearest Joan knowing you for 24 years and working with you too you were one of a kind full of laughter and Banter
You watched my girls grow up and loved my grandson when he came along you were king and thoughtful and you will be truly missed by the Kumar family
