In loving memory of Carol Lyn Douglas who passed away on 13th July 2021 aged 68 years.
She will be dearly missed by her partner Clive, son Jamie, daughter in law Helen, grandchildren Fraser and Iona and all her friends and former clients from her 30 years as Seamstress for Tenterden.

Carol was born on 22nd December 1952 in Tenterden and grew up in the Golden Square area of the town. Carol was a member of the Kent & East Sussex Railway since she started employed at the Childrens Shop in the High Street at the age of 19 and her love for the railway continued from there. Carol spent many years as a volunteer and several years as sous chef aboard the Pullman dining train. Carol's astounding work ethic and strong sense of purpose she passed to her son Jamie who has pursued a career in the railways, following encouragement from Carol to learn to drive steam trains "down the road".

In recent years, Carols achievements included becoming Consort to Mayor John Weller where she had many wonderful experiences which she held fondly in her memories and in 2017 she undertook a 2 year project at home, to identify the many missing names and details of those men of Tenterden who died in the service of our country in the Great War and World War II. The Town Museum, Churches and Town Council have expressed their thanks and gratitude for her extraordinary efforts to complete this project.

Carol will be remembered for the dedication and attention to detail she gave in everything she did, for the love she had for her family and particularly her Grandchildren and for the wonderful costumes, wedding dresses and clothes that she made for hundreds of clients - including those at 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace!

Funeral service to take place at St Mildred's Church, Tenterden on Wednesday 11th August 2021 at 2.00pm.
